This is precisely what I was pointing out. I agree that in a perfect world, we would hire only the most talented folks and race wouldn't be considered in the equation but, my concern is that the vast majority of these kids are from areas far, far away from any real exposure to Tennessee the state itself, much less UT the school.
They are subject to certain incorrect dispositions or attitudes and generalizations about the population within the state as well as the coaching staff,
based solely on limited and unqualified experience such as from sources such as television, radio, etc...
For example, I have AA friends that were not from Tennessee originally, that tell me certain members of their family won't even drive thru certain southern states at all, ever, for ANY reason. This is due to their perception that those states' populations and government agencies, such as the state police departments, are all believed to be racist. There is an honest, deep-laden fear of being AA and in the wrong place at the wrong time and possibly being railroaded on false charges, or whatever. You and I, having known this area our whole lives, know this to be patently false for most of our areas anyway, certainly not the common occurrence here by any stretch. Most cops I know are the farthest thing in a million years from being racist at all.
I would hate for this kind of nonsense to be spoken re: CLK and Company, Knoxville area, Tennessee altogether, behind closed doors to prospective recruits.
This info may only further misinform their already misconstrued assumptions about our people and, most importantly, about our program (if they can play, I could care less if they think I am a snaggle tooth, long beard, redneck, racist jerk or not

. And I also don't have to tell you all that when it comes to recruiting in college football. It's more about your national ranking than your integrity these days.
