last year Butch Jones held a meeting with his team after the ARK loss, where he told them the truth: "you're a good football team".

he wasn't wrong. from there, they played their best football the rest of the season.

so, this year, do the same thing. tell the truth.

this team isn't very good right now. they're not a good football team. just like last year, despite the 2-3 record, they were a good football team, despite the 3-0 record, they're not a good football team.

just like last year, a dose of reality could be just what the doctor ordered. they can't continue to do the same things and expect it just get better.

It's frustrating since this is fundamentally the same team as last year. The biggest fan question is how did these same guys go from a good football team to a bad one?

They just been holding back the good stuff so the SEC foes won't know what hit them. Oh, and the injuries are a ruse too.

Butch has said that even though you basically have the same players from the year before, it's not the same team. Team 120 is different from Team 119.

Because every national championship contending team truly kicks it into full-gear once they are told that they are "not good."

Because every coach should expect nothing more than a loss so they should just go ahead and tell their team that they are "not good."

If a good team has regressed, the only thing is coaching

We all know Mahoney is a terrible OL coach, but he is still here. Thats on Butch

We also know that 2 coaches have fell on the Ax. Still, no improvement in particular areas

At some point, the issue sits with the person making the decisions

Really hoping this is the case! Buy I think it's suicide to a team to hold them back. I was always told you practice like you play.

I think Jancek is coaching at Tampa Bay and doing a pretty good job.

Should have replaced the whole staff like Dooley in 2012, huh?

That worked out great.

My hope is that they have just been playing down to competition and now that it's Florida I fully expect them to play their A game.

It's time to go to work. Watch film and come up with a game plan that will get us the win. Make adjustments as needed in the game to get us the win. Butch this and Butch that, players this and players that, fans this and fans that, it's all talk, time to grind out some SEC wins.

I figured this was going to be a thread about quick hits over the middle. That is a golden play in this offense. We usually run it about what, twice per game?

i think many on this board, and many of the prognosticators out there have called this team out for reading their own press. and while i don't think the staff has said it or endorsed that notion, i think there's some merit to it.

and i think it's high time some one bring everyone back down to reality.

i don't know that doing this would make a difference, just drawing a possible comparison to last year, and what may make a difference?

all the talk in the world won't make a difference though, until they play like they've been told they can play.

and maybe it starts with acknowledging that there's a problem to begin with.

so tell the team they're bad?

yes. and i started to hear some of that finally last night from CBJ. he called our play sloppy, and acknowledged that it has to change quickly with conference play starting.

it was nice to finally hear him say something other than "uncharacteristic of this team". he's not wrong in saying that based on how well they've played over time under CBJ. but so far this season, they are what they are, and sloppy is a good word for it.

It is hard not to notice the difference in penalties from last year to this year. Last year we almost never gave up free yards, now our seniors are almost determined to get kicked out of the games. And the offensive play calling is atrocious. When Ohio is jumping your reads for huge losses, you need to spice it up. Florida's DBs are going to jump that damn screen pass for a pick six.
