I know many on here are mad cause we lost. I'm not. How come? Cause I know we finally got us a real football coach. Many on here know I have not exactly been on the Jeremy Pruitt bandwagon. I have been critical of him far more than many on here would like. Well it took one game (in which we lost) for me to get on board. I'm now convinced we have the right guy.

If you have any doubt that Jeremy Pruitt is the real deal, then please go and watch his post-game interview after the West Virginia game. Talk about a breathe of fresh air compared to Butch Jones. I can't believe we had to live through 5 years of that clown spinning losses into moral victories or acting like winning or losing the game doesn't matter or running away from expectations. It was refreshing for me to finally see a coach take responsibility for his team's performance and admit that the only thing that matters is the final score on the scoreboard. Pruitt also placed the blame of the loss on himself and his coaching staff for not preparing the team well enough rather than just blaming it on the players for not executing like Butch Jones always did. Remember according to Butch Jones, his coaching was never at fault. It was always the players that were to blame for losing. I also don't need to point out he's also not a wimpy coach who will take a FG from the 1 yard line like someone we know. Going for it on that 4th down early in the game is what a real football coach does.

This year might not be as great as we had hoped but I'm far more optimistic about the future of Tennessee football today than I was yesterday.

Jeremy Pruitt is a real one.

It took one game for me to realize he’s got a long ways to go before wanting my respect. Beat UF in a few weeks then that’s a good start and I’ll forget this wvu game ever happened

Look what happened today was West Virginia's players making more plays than ours. Some of those passes Will Grier made on 3rd and long in the second half were just special plays that even NFL DBs weren't gonna stop. I like the fight we showed even after West Virginia got momentum in the second half.

I don't think the final score was indicative of how we performed or our potential as a team. This team looks a lot better than it did last year. I loved our physicality on defense. I liked the focus and discipline our players showed.

Coach Pruitt is gonna need a year to get his system and culture in place (like Kirby did at Georgia). But when he does, I think we're gonna be a team nobody in the SEC wants to play. He's a real football coach and we haven't had that in a while. I'm extremely encouraged by what I saw today.

This is still the same team with Butch’s players that went 0-8 in the SEC.

There’s no instant fix, especially for a 1st year HC.

Remember this was game one. I will not judge CJP & staff on this game. I think we can win 6 games this season and to me that would be improvement. I was encouraged by some things I saw. Not a lot, but some. Remember the returning players (offense & defense) are learning new schemes. TN will get there because I believe we have the right man for the job.

We have no pash rush on the QB and I don't think we will with this group of players. We have no dominant DE's. 2 things a team has to have to be decent. 1 you need a good QB and I think Guantanamo performed really good this game but needs to be better. 2 you have to have a pass rush on defense. Preferably you need one or two dominant DE's to be affective. JMO but I have predicted this would happen to friends and family after we lost Barnett to the league.

I agree D4H. The only thing part where our opinions differ is that we aren't hugely talented. We have some but it's thin and inexperienced. Thank you Butch for the lack of development.

People seem to forget we were terrible last year and that it will take time before we see the results. You're delusional if you think we are gonna be automatically a top contender. I saw a team that Has improved. Maybe not a huge transformation but you can only do with what personnel you're given.

The biggest thing is we played one of the best offenses in the nation. Grier is a Heisman candidate for a reason. They have veteran receivers with Sills being arguably th best in the nation.

Chill. The real meat of the story will come down how we play against the bottom tier of the SEC.

I agree and it's not only the team that needs a year Jeremy Pruitt himself needs a year to grow into his new position. You can tell by some of the play calls that this is his first year,
Also there must be something in the water at UT our DBs never develop anymore after their freshman season.

I think Pruitt will be a good coach, but we may not see it on the football field for another 2-3 years.
He needs to purge this team of players as many of them just don't have the talent to play in the SEC or P5 programs, unfortunately

Completely agree with what you said, total Class from Coach Pruitt. Just flip over to the WVU post-game if you want to see the exact opposite.

While going for it on 4th down worked and we scored, I don't think it was a smart move. I can definitely see reasons for doing it but in general I didn't agree with it at the time. I definitely don't think going for it makes him a better coach than if he had decided to kick a FG. I predicted a 17 pt loss so I pretty much got what I expected. I was more encouraged by JG at qb than I was discouraged by the defense. The defense will get better, I have no doubt about that. With that being said, if JG continues to play well, Jordan stays healthy, and our defense improves game after game, I can still see us winning 6 or 7 games.

Pruitt should have fans total backing until he gets his own players on the roster. Players didn't perform OL was soft most of the game even though they did look better in the second half. No pressure at all from the DL made the entire defense totally vulnerable to the passing game. A lot of missed tackles that has become our trademark in the last several years. The assessment is that we can't win with the current roster not enough guys that can play at a high level. We have to hope Pruitt will get his players in here and they will be SEC quality. A long way to go he is off to a good start in recruiting in year number one. The word goes out to all recruits if you want to play early and often consider making your home Tennessee.
