Yes. You have to know your guys. He should have sensed it long before any of us did. There are a lot of differences between him and Tony V. Maybe his style will work eventually. Or...?

One difference is that TV would have NEVER just stood there and taken what the home plate ump was doing. He might have gotten tossed but he would have lit him up.

The sum of it all is that the players responded to Tony. They took on his intensity and will to win. He wasn't looking for the sportsmanship trophy and neither were they.

Sometimes you have a team that just doesn't have clutch players... and sometimes you coach doesn't inspire guys to be clutch.

Elander IS over his head. When I heard that Mike White was going to meet with the team and get their input on a new head coach, I had a lot of concerns. He went with what they wanted and here we are. Major college programs are a tough place for on the job training. That’s the path we are on. Hopefully these lessons get learned quickly.
No he's not.

If DW’s dreams of a football utopia aren’t realized soon, and I don’t think it will, Tenn sports will be nothing more than mediocre in all sports. He is putting all his eggs in the football stadium and surrounding entertainment venues. I think he is a slick salesman who moved himself from a small school with dreams he sold to the administration. He is currently raising a lot of money but when football doesn’t reach what he is selling it will crumble. Don’t think CJH is the man to reach championship level. Good but not great.
Everybody will blame it on NIL but Tenn was supposedly the top innovator when this new era started. DW is not good for Tenn sports as a whole.

People making accusations have no idea what it is really like to coach a team and get through a baseball game and what it truly takes
And neither does Elander when every decision is his to make.
Whick assistant coach would you pick to take over the football team full time, which assistant basketball coach would you pick after Barnes retires? Betting none. You’d do a search for the best available. Previous HC experience. But DW says the best choice is already here. No need to search. He should have given Elander a title of interim HC, see how it goes, and began looking nationally in case the season goes as it currently is. When Kiffin left unexpectedly they should have put an interim title on an assistant and did a national search. Everybody sees that now.

Why would Mike White meet with our Baseball team?

Shouldn't you be stressing over who will be QB1 this upcoming season ?

You clearly weren’t on this board or the internet in general during the whole transition period then

EVERYONE wanted Elander and was ticked off that Danny was thinking about going in a different direction. It’s been said that boosters had to step in to get Elander hired.

Can’t blame this one on Danny

Reese was 3-5 with a HR/multiple RBIs and an outstanding HR robbing catch in RF.

I wish all our players were that “inconsistent.”
He also struck out with bases loaded when we could have broken the game open hence the inconsistency.

Fair points. You could also build a case that Tony could have been even more successful if he had controlled both his and his team's emotions a little more.

Mike White? Did I miss something?
I don’t know who Mike White is, but I still think it must be tough for Danny working at two major colleges—

…as exhibited watching ‘22, then ‘23 grow into ‘24. Of course the NCAA and SEC rule changes kinda steered him in that direction, too.

There is part of me that feels we are getting better at the plate and that we aren't that far from getting it together. But there is also a part of me that wonders what way we invent another way to lose or blow another game... Teams confidence seems up against the wall right now

I truly believe the NCAA wasn't going to let that 2022 team get to Omaha. I bet if you went back and analyzed the strike zones vs ND, you could confirm it.
No doubt. I’m pretty sure Tony and Frank did, hence their modification of approach.

They are getting better. Each week is more experience against the best arms in college baseball. By post season, the talent could be primed to shine.

I say this with all possible respect, perhaps baseball isn't the sport for you.
Hard to complain about Reese when he did go 3-5 but that at bat with the bases loaded was very bad and deserves criticism. Pitcher just threw 4 balls in a row and Reese proceeds to swing at the first pitch which was in the dirt. Then swung at 2 more balls way out of the zone to strikeout. Bad at bat at a massive moment with LSU on the ropes.

So boosters actually run athletic programs. Too bad cause they can’t be fired. I guess they also are calling the plays and making game decisions. And to think all us fans think Danny is hiring and firing.

I like Josh and yes there’s going to be a learning curve but it appears TN doesn’t have the confidence and swagger of past teams. This came from CTV. I want CJE to be successful but if Tony said I made a mistake and wanted to come back and Josh agreed to be associate head coach again, I would be ecstatic. It won’t happen but one can dream.

Side note: Tony is getting chubby and looks 10 years older already.
It's apparent that that swagger is not gonna come from CJE. That's perfectly fine. However, we need someone to step into that roll be it an assistant coach or a couple of players. A good start would be drilling that arrogant prick from LSU in the ear hole on his first at bat to remind him this isn't his house. If the benches clear, even better.

Actually, it's Danny Dime's brother...the head coach of Georgia basketball.
