Been a Vol since the 70s. Things will not change in Knoxville until the university gets the right person in place and be willing to bring in a top flite coach.

The University of Tennessee does not need a lower level coach at this point. We need someone proven that can get the job done. I realize there is a small group of coaches at that level to try to hire.

So the university is at a crossroads. Do the diligence and hire a proven coach OR continue on and hope like heck(lol) we have a good season at some point.

Nothing will improve until we nail the AD hire for once! Well run athletic departments lead to good hires that leads to well run teams!

I respectfully disagree.

While it would preferable to hire a "proven" coach, I don't think it is completely necessary. Coaches become "elite" based on success over time, but every one of them started somewhere.

I have no issues with taking a chance on a coach if there's a general consensus of reputable and experienced people in making the selection.

CBJ was not awful hire. He's done a lot of good things for the program. He just isn't the guy who can carry the program to the next level. Time to let someone else have a crack at it.

It isn't happening this year, though. The new chancellor and athletics director have to be in place before you go after a new coach.

I believe at this tiime and place we cant chance a hire of a up and coming coach that fails. I will agree that a well ran athletic department can do great things, but unfortunatley we dont and havent had that in a while.
