It is stuff like this that makes you want to smack Obama!

God-D@mn America, its in the Bible under Habakkuk 4:13!

I think we need to start a 1-900 business!

We need to try our guru technique on someone else first.

Someone random who isn't a regular visitor to the political forum. Someone who won't beat around the bush with his answers, who posts here often and is opinionated and probably gets more people riled up on here than anyone else. Someone who's name rhymes with "Bat Ball."

"I believe the press is intrigued with him more b/c he's a black candidate who's garnering more support than any other black candidate before him."

Is this all she was trying to say?

I think so - she never says the only reason he is doing so well is because he is black. She is saying the press is cheering on the chance to have a black president and they are behind him in particular because he is the first mainstream black candidate. It his precisely his other qualifications that add the context to her commentary. It is quite similar to OE's comments that some may support Obama because it's an opportunity to be the side of a historical event. Neither is racist IMHO.

The context is pretty clear to me.

She said her gender was a key reason in getting the VP nod - do you think she is making a sexist comment about herself because she acknowledge the role her gender made?

now did you mean who's, as in contraction for who is

or

whose, the possessive form of who?:)

I think she had sour grapes b/c her candidate wasn't winning as many delegates, and so she chose to make an excuse (BPV - this one's for you) for her candidate's shortcomings.

But I will take your interpretation for sake of argument, and that said, it's one of the least enlightening analyses I've ever heard a political figure make, much less one with her experience. I mean, really, is that surprising at all that the press might be a bit more intrigued by someone who was LEADING and about to make history?
