It all starts now...

I'm not knocking Coleman at all but Stephens supposedly has one of the best arms UT has ever had but might be struggling with the playbook a little.

The last "best arm" that struggled with the playbook that I remember was Heath Shuler... and I saw at least one quote that said Stephens' arm was better.

I did hear Doug Mattews talking Coleman up on Big Orange Sunday. Doug is usually somewhat bland but his opinion of Coleman was a kid with a rocket arm, mobile and someone that studies the game intensely. His prediction was that Coleman would start over Crompton next year.

Yes it would. I would not be suprised to see Nick Stephens start next year.

Well...I base that off of what happened in '05. I'm sure there were alot of reasons the coaches had for chosing Ainge over Clausan to start the season but the simple fact was that Clausen out played Ainge in pre-season practice but Ainge still got the nod...

Our coaches are often notorious for making up their minds and then refusing to change them no matter what (i.e. look at some of the play calling and personnel decisions this year).

That's why I say if they get Crompton on their mind they will be hard pressed to start anyone else in the early season next year

I don't see any way Crompton is not starting next season. I suppose a coaching change could make it happen but I see Fulmer going with Crompton if he's around to make that choice. I only based my opinion of Coleman on what I have heard so I could very well be wrong about him. I just picked up on how many different people have brought this kid up for being so impressive. It's odd that Stephens was brought up for having a cannon arm when I heard the exact same thing about B.J. Maybe they both have cannons and I could care less who plays as long as they're the best player at that postition.

I agree 100% with the line-up for next season. Evert player mentioned is a potential playmaker. For the Florida commit, If Foster wouldn't have fumbled the ball with the score 20 to 28 it would have been a different game. I have had just about enough of Fulmer also. But I think there is a lot of good young talent at Tennessee right now if he doesn't win in the SEC in the next 3 years then he never will again and it is time to go.

There's alot left in this season. Alot left to play for and a few good changes could lead us to 10-2, maybe the SECCG and a great bowl game...

BUT...and I know this has been discussed before...think about what we are setting up for next year. I mean...look at this line up...

Offense

QB: Crompton/Coleman (this will be a nice battle to watch)

RB: Foster/Coker/Creer

TE: Cottam's/Stocker

WR's: Taylor/Rogers (dependable) Paige/O'Neal/Jones/Moore (vertical threats)

O-line: Scott/McClendon/Richard/McNeil/Johnson...

Kicker: Lincoln

Defense

DE: Martin/Ayers

DT: Bolden/Williams/Brimfield/Langley...

LB: McCoy/Mayo/McKenzie

DB: Berry/Johnson/Vinson/Willingham...

Punter: Colquitt

Maybe this is a lousy time to bring it up...but I bring this to the table because I think it starts now...with UGA.

Assuming the same coaching staff will be here next season (because we don't know otherwise yet)...the run for something great next year starts now. If we make the needed changes from an execution, play calling, and attitude standpoint this year then we end with a respectable season that sets us up for a great run next year.

If we don't then it could end up being a waste of a great team next year. I say this because even if we brought in the best coach available he inevitably would have a transition season to start with. And I think this transition would coincide with and therefore waste a very talented team..

So...IMO...IT ALL STARTS NOW!!!

This is what we were saying last year....This year was supposed to be an excellent season.....I have been saying "wait till next year alot with Fulmer lately"....and I keep waiting and waiting and waiting....same ole thing:whistling::whistling:
