We can talk about the running backs, and Ainge, and the DBs, and so on, and Im no genius, but I do know a little about football, and our problems begin up front. Our O line blocks OK against normal pass rush, but doesnt pick up the blitzes well, and doesnt run block well. If we can't run, we can't pass. You can set up the run with the pass, but you have to be able to do that with pass plays >10 yards, and do it consistently, and be able to go deep successfully. We have the talent supposedly to do that, but dropped balls, QB pressure/sacks,etc. prevent us from being able to be successful enough doing it to get bodies out of the box and open the run up more. We can, and have been successful doing that at times, and then not so at times.

On defense, we simply cannot stop the run consistently, and can't get QB pressure without blitzing. The DB is not designed to run stop often, traditionally they are small and quick. These guys cannot take a 4 quarter pounding against a 220-240 lb running back. Against the pass, if the QB has enough time, he can pick apart the best secondary. The D line has to get pressure.

If our O line, and D line improve, we improve. If neither improves this off season, we will be in trouble next season, again. I think we will improve. These guys are young and have played against some tough opponenets this season.

Probably not saying much that hasnt been said or most of you guys dont already know, but this is my observation for what its worth.

there's no doubt that our biggest issues are up front on both sides of the ball.

I agree completely. Bad thing is: it's hard to look at us on paper and predict dramatic improvement next year.

unfortunately, i agree. i can't see this group we have now getting THAT much better in one off season. will they be better? yeah, but so much better that we are SEC championship caliber....doubtful. Plus we get younger in the secondary.

we need to recruit smaller, faster linemen.
i don't think speed is necessarily the overriding factor here. these guys get pushed around on a regular basis. they can't get off blocks and we get no push or penetration.
