It’s funny how we only see certain posters during bad times

Kind of like those young kids protesting, show up when it is the end of the world.

Most of those “people” are trolls or pretending to be Vol fans.

The ones whose been on this board for a while now, including me, have some fair slight concern over Heupel this season.

No way in hell do we fire him next year but changes will have to be made during the off season if Heupel wants to be here long term.

Agree with some but Heupel stays for a decade I hope. Not so many years ago we were struggling to stay off the bottom. Now we are complaining about not Winning the SEC. Quite the improvement.

They come here to spout negativity when bad things happen, but they’re never here any other time. And they call themselves “Tennessee fans.”
They’re the ones with very little else in their lives to be happy about. That’s why 20 year old kid’s losing a game hurts so bad.

Now VFJ, you know that all Realists are NegaVols and it's all the Ref's fault.

Hypel isn’t being fired in the next 5 years. His buyout is huge and my university won’t spend that money. Cornbread would still be here if we had to pay his 10 million dollar buyout.

Everyone has an opinion and personally, I enjoy them all. Debate and differing perspectives is a healthy thing....well...in today's culture I know that's not popular, but in my day, it was seen as normal and encouraged.

And that’s fine if they’re here at other times or say something positive when it’s appropriate. I’m taking about people who are ONLY here to complain when things are bad.

People like to complain more than celebrate. People are, for the most part, quiet when they are happy. Message Boards are actually the main venue people use to release negative emotions as well.

I believe there is a real disconnect between younger and older fans/alumni and another disconnect between older and much older fans/alumni. I'm 52 and a UT grad. I was in school at the pinnacle of UT football. I expect much more of my football program because when I was in school, we understood what a great program looked like. We won. A lot. We understand the potential of this program. And it's frustrating to see how we've fallen. Last year was a great year, no doubt. But dbl digit win seasons were the norm for us. An SECC and a NC was the goal every year. That's all I knew. Younger folks have never really seen a great UT program. Ever. Their expectations are understandably much lower. Getting to a bowl. Decent recruiting classes. A win over a ranked team here and there. That's what the program is currently. It's very hard for some of us, including myself, to lower those expectations and be satisfied. It sucks and I try.
Now if you go back even further, when alumni were at UT in the 70's and 80's, expectations were different too. UT wasn't very good. It took a LONG time for Johnny to build it to a championship level. So they understand better what I have a hard time understanding as far as having to rebuild. It's really silly calling each other out when the facts are, expectations are different for a bunch of folks who love UT and UT football. I hope that UT football can get back to the level I expect one day. It may never happen, and I have to accept that, so I have to retrain myself to enjoy UT football for what it is. GO VOLS and Buck Fama!!

And the usual "post police" always show up to try and silence the critics. I've seen no posts that say Heupel should be fired after this season - it's idiotic to believe there is any chance that happens. Nobody should be satisfied with the way the team is performing right now - it's simply not acceptable. Players aren't good enough and the coaching isn't either. Heupel is in charge of both. Some believe he'll get it corrected, others aren't sure. He is easily the most likable of all the post-Fulmer coaches and he knows the game. Next season will be more important to his future than this one and same for the one after that.

If you studied your Bible, you would know people prophesised only during the bad times as a warning to change before it was too late. The prophets never had anything good to say. It was always the false prophets who would tickle the kings and peoples ears about the course and direction of current events. The prophets were always ridiculed and imprisoned because their speech was harsh and hard to hear

It is the false Vol watchers who are telling you everything is going to be okay. Though I am no prophet, I can still see things are heading in the wrong direction.

Yes but you’re just having a conversation and discussing things. You don’t get offended when someone has a different opinion.

Hypel is what I called him when he was hired. It was meant to be negative. He’s exceeded my expectations by a long shot so I’m not hiding from anything I said.

Nice measured(NOT) response. Just kinda nice to call people by their real names . You said you wanted to be negative when he was hired and you have maintained that with me by your "low rider" response. Talking 'bout going over the top y'all. Jeepers folks we bee a little sensitive. Just tell me about your initial comment about his hiring then let it go. Never said you were hiding as I knew nothing to hide from. 😒
