Is what Lane doing to Ole Miss worse than what he ever did to Tennessee?

Yes it’s worse what he’s doing to Ole Miss. they have a playoff birth and a lot more at stake than we did in 09. All we had was a crap bowl game. Still ****** either way !
Idk. I think I would have struggled by with a playoff game instead of being left in an NCAA investigation. Maybe it’s just me.

LSU deserves Lane Kiffin. He is a slimeball but I must admit is a solid offensive coach. He will flameout in Louisiana in spectacular fashion. Ole Miss got their program rebuilt in mercenary fashion with free agents and now Pete Golding inherits remnants of that squad. Lane will take a bunch of Ole Miss players with him to LSU and it will be one royal mess.

Kiffin crapped on the Vols bigtime and particularly on the hare brained AD who hired him. Wow did that disastrous decision ever come back to haunt Tennessee.
That wasn’t the decision that haunted UT.

I'm going to defend kiffin a bit. I haven't read the thread but I personally believe that this whole situation is the NCAAs fault. When we had 4 team playoffs it was unlikely that a school in that playoff was going to lose a coach to a perceived better school. There's only 4 and they're the top 4 year in and year out so an early signing period (read: THE signing period) didn't really make a difference.

With 12 teams, you can definitely get some coaches that have worked their tails off at a b level school that want to take their chances at a school they perceive as higher status but because of the signing period being before the playoffs and the portal being before the end of the post season, this creates a massive issue for the schools who need to get a coach in place before the playoffs. You wouldn't see schools making such drastic moves so early if it weren't for the December signing period. LSU is going to do what's best for LSU and kiffin is put in a bind because of the way the NCAAs nonsensical schedule works. it moves the timetable up so much. If the signing period wasn't until February and the portal didn't open until after the playoffs, LSU and Florida wouldn't have felt the pressure to bring in possible playoff coaches before the playoff was even set

We had it coming to us when Hammy nuked the available coaching pool and buyout to keep the HC under $2MM...

You nuke the buyout and operate like a mid major stepping stone job like Hammy did, dont be shocked if you get treated like a mid major stepping stone job..

I'm going to add that if we fired huepel and had our sights set on...let's say Dan lanning (perennial playoff contender) and the signing period was still in December, we would be pissed if Dan didn't leave Oregon to get to work here.

thanks for adding that

LSU and Ole Miss are not a wash. HS recruiting is significantly easier and they likely have 2x the NIL budget.
5 years ago, yes. No...nope. the LSU job is much better than Florida, but I think what Lane built in Ole Miss...its a wash

Cignetti is dumb as a brick for staying at Indianna over PSU. Why let another talented coach fill that vacancy that will have access to more resources and have to compete against them? It's foolishness. But Cignetti has an inflated ego. He thinks he can win anywhere. But he still hasn't faced an SEC team. He is a good coach, but doesn't quite grasp the understanding of what it means to compete against the Ohio State's and Georgia's and 5 star rosters of college football.

Whether Lane succeeds or not, which I expect him to, the path is easier than staying at Ole Miss playing against a 9 game conference schedule. He doesn't have to worry about going up against a more resourced LSU every year. Losing to them last year is what kept Ole Miss out of the playoffs. He can now be the more resourced team on the field against most of his opponents.
He still has a 9 game schedule and has to play Ole Miss at LSU as well as Texas A&M, another CFP team. And that’s not what kept Ole Miss out of the playoffs. Losing to Florida at the end of the year, coupled with Bama losing to OU is how we got in.

Indiana played Ohio State tough last year in Columbus with a QB on a torn ACL. Now he has Mendoza. Indiana is going to beat Ohio State. Indiana went into Oregon, another 5 star power and smoked em.

If I were that writer I would come back with some giant headline like "TIGER, HOE!" or "HOE BOY!" Really double down on it. He's gonna be pissy and hate Ole Miss anyway so why dissemble? It isn't as if LSU doesn't know what it's bringing in. They just think they can buy more loyalty out of him than anyone else has so far.

Tennessee was not forced to hire Derek Dooley. Cutcliffe was coming, that is until Mike Hamilton demanded that he keep Kippy Brown on staff. Hamilton also interviewed and could have hired Al golden or Kevin Sumlin.
What did Cutcliffe have against Brown?

lol at the posts after the Vandy loss saying “we should go get Lane Kiffin back.” Dude screwed Tennessee over, tried to poach players, and yet there people were yesterday saying we should get him back. Now he’s screwing Ole Miss even harder than he screwed us, out in the open, no shame about the matter. “I can fix him/her!” “He won’t do it again!” The mantra of fools.
Aw I'm sure he'll reform his character and be a new man again as soon as he starts at LSU. Does he still have the same PR liaison?

Lane leaving on the cusp of playoffs is about as low as a coach can go. LSU should take note of the scumbag they're hiring. I had been thinking he'd grown up some. Once again, I'm wrong.

Yeah, this whole stringing them along, signals all say he’s gone, but not being straight up at this point is worse. I’m fine with the immediate cutting of ties and moving on once a decision is made. This sucks for the Ole Miss fan base.
It only sucks for the fans because they want Kiffin and now the program has to reset.
If Kiffin wasn’t doing a good job, it would only suck for him when the fans got him fired and he had to reset.

It always sucks for somebody and there has never been loyalty from the university, fans, or coaches. It’s always been transactional, but didn’t have NIL and portal considerations. Kiffin didn’t invent the portal, playoff system, or recruiting periods, tv contracts and commercialization.

All the ‘loyalty and family’ talk was based upon a system of indenturing and penalizing players, while everyone else got to do what they wanted. It was a mirage fans bought into and encouraged with every new revenue stream further corporatizing the sport. It’s just business.

LSU is the one hiring him to leave at the cusp of the playoffs. It can't be helped with signing day being Wednesday
