Trump is off the chart with #4 ... and before a conservative jumps in ... No, there hasn't been another President who required as much admiration as Donald Trump does. Trump's opinion of others rests entirely on how they feel about him first. Trump is willing to overlook any misdeeds from other people, just as long as they are giving him praise. There is no better example of that than Trump's defense of Kim Jong Un and that is all because Kim has written Trump some letters that appealed to his ego. It makes Trump easy to manipulate by those who wish to exploit his egotism for their own selfish gain.

Spot on:

Social Impact
Ironically patients with NPD, also known as narcissists are reportedly happier than others in society. Being highly materialistic, self-enhancing, entitled and impulsive, they may not learn from mistakes, and have a tendency to get into even greater trouble, notably legal and disciplinary (Ronningstam & Weinberg, 2013). These maladaptive coping mechanisms can result in issues in the work place or in school, or unemployment.
Patients with NPD tend to be drawn to people of a high societal class, who think very highly of them (Campbell, Miller, & Widiger, 2010). The constant desire for admiration may cause romantic relationships to be short lived, as they constantly seek for something better, or when their lack of empathy becomes apparent to their partners (Ronningstam & Weinberg, 2013). So patients with NPD may exhibit an unforgiving nature and showcase anger and aggression in such close relationships (Ronningstam & Weinberg, 2013). This can also affect work relationships or any close group activities.

It's called ego, and yes, he has a large one.

Your post makes me want to find the South Park Gif for when the Pokeman were going to take over......."No, you American's have such big penis', we have such small penis', you so big and bad and manly, you large American wtih big penis we so small'"......

A person can have a big ego without such a need for flattery. What makes Trump egocentric is that he views the rest of the world only through the lens of how events and other people effect him directly. I.E. Kim Jong Un is a good guy because he says good things about Trump.

He's an East coast elite rich boy who grew up in that circle. I've met plenty of them. It's called reinforcement of my oh so awesomeness. It's like a drug, or that entitled self fulfilling prophecy.

He is the carnival barker.

AOC is same..Just wrapped up in a prettier, crazier package. Take her fake photo op at the fence, for instance.

There are varying levels, but, it is more than not a virtue of growing use to and being able to dictate. It's like the Stanford prison experiment, it is human nature, and more than not, unfortunately, his disposition is more the common, than not.

Yes Trump is a narcissist, and so is every other politician in Washington.
I disagree, but since that is the only defense for Trump on this topic (it can't be denied with any credibility that he is a narcissist), I don't blame you for using the "everybody is guilty" defense.

You are not giving human nature enough credit. I've always thought the Stanford Prison Experiment was hogwash... and so did one of my professors at UT who talked about it at length. The participants were acting out in ways they thought the researchers wanted them to act and as a result they gave their roles stereotypical treatment.

The best defense for Trump's behavior is that it's all just an act for the benefit of his fans (just a really good one). I've seen it argued that his public persona is not who he really is... and that this blowhard we see on TV isn't real. There is no way to prove or disprove that theory unless you know him personally, however.

What are you talking about “defense”? Everyone who’s responded says he’s a narcissist. So is every person who thinks out of their state or district they are the most qualified person for the job. Shocking revelations.

I used to think narcissism was wrong until the lib's told me how great it was that Obama was one so I dont have a problem with it anymore. Kind of surprised lib's do now though...oh wait, no I'm not surprised.

I'd say it describes Trump and Obama
Can you cite some specific actions by Obama which fit the traits of a narcissist? I have now seen multiple posts to this thread that say he is narcissistic, but they have all been short on specific examples that point to narcissism.
