Is this the biggest game since '08 Memphis?

I can't think of a game we've played that had such big implications since that game.

If Tennessee wins this game, and pulls it out against Gonzaga, there's no reason why Tennessee shouldn't go into SEC play in January ranked #1 in the country!

Let's take care of business tonight, and for God's sake, hit your free throws and box somebody out!

I dont think it has the same magnitude as the Memphis game. That was deep in the season once both teams had solidified who they were. This one still has the feel of two teams working to determine their identity together. Clearly our continuity from last year to now is helpful, but anyone here who played knows no matter what, new year means new team whether you lose multiple guys or not. They are tough as hell inside with Lawson and Azubuike, so I hope we can get them into foul trouble. Their permiter D has looked suspect during the 3 games I have watched them in as well. I think we have a lot of advantages.

I agree with you that if we can get through what feels like a few more games with this one included (Gonz, Memphis, Wake), we should enter into the Georgia game at 1 or 2. It sure feels good to be in this place. I was when it happened, and still am today, that Rick Barnes is our coach!

Go Big Orange!!!

Every NCAAT game since then has been bigger for our program if you think about it, but as far as regular season "bragging rights" are concerned, we haven't experienced another top 5 matchup since that time, so in that sense, I'd say yes.

Hard to argue that a regular season game is more important than any tournament game, but if we win tonight I think there's a decent chance the matchup with Gonzaga will be #1 vs. #2. We don't get to have conversations like that very often, and knocking a perennial blue blood off its perch would be icing on the cake.

Obviously it's more important for a team to be playing its best basketball at the end of the season, but a win tonight would appear to bump our (already high) trajectory up a notch.

Not the biggest but definitely has about as large of an impact as any single game during the regular season.

The Memphis game was the biggest game to date and its not even close. It had everything. Rivals ranked #1 and #2, same state, stars in attendance and huge TV ratings. Rock star game.

Lost the game in the middle tonight, Fulkerson turnover machine, Walker fouling machine and Alexander was pushed around like a rag doll. Gotta get tougher down low.
