Is Pruitt a Jerk? Does he care?

A good read. I think its just right that unlike past (failed) coaches, Pruitt is focused on fundamentals of the game and recruiting and doesnt really have much mind on the media at all. I am guessing that Saban rubbed off on him that way. Hopefully, he learned a few other things from him as well.

During his appearance on WGOW, Pruitt admitted that some of the media and fan/booster obligations were a bit more than he expected when he became UT’s head coach. One got the feeling that Pruitt would much rather be drawing up a play or coaching fundamentals than talking to guys like me. That shouldn’t be considered a bad thing.

This was a great insight and I totally believe this:

When Pruitt’s legacy is written, his time at UT will be judged by wins, losses and championships. If Pruitt can get the Vols to a level in which they compete for the SEC East, that won’t be enough for him. Pruitt couldn’t stand being just a 10-win team at Georgia under Richt. He won’t stand for the same in Knoxville.

I think Coach Pruitt is an old style grouchy coach who will tell you exactly what he's thinking Coach Pruitt reminds me of Johnny Majors who was always a hard guy to get along with but he turned Tennessee football around

Pruitt isn’t hear to make the media happy, in his own words “I’m here to make people fear Tennessee again”. It’s a positive sign of some people in media think he’s being a jerk. Just shows his focus is in the right place.

Pruitt seems fine to me he is nice to people who do their job and mean to the ones who don't exactly the way it should be. He is willing to answer sensible question and has no time for silly ones. I don't see that as being a jerk.
