Is now the time to help recruiting by polishing Pruitt's language skills?

Moms want to know that a university can polish their child to help them succeed outside of football.

What does it say about the educators at Tennessee as a school if they can't polish Pruitt's English?

He makes a few systematic errors. A good "speaking coach" could fix it in 1 hour a week over 4 weeks.

Does Tennessee have anyone like that?

Wouldn't a "well spoken coach " sound better?

Most of these football coaches have double digit IQs and would be gym teachers if not for being in the right place at the right time. It's not just Pruitt.

I think he probably comes off as genuine and sincere in his contacts with recruits and parents. He has a good track record as a recruiter. Don’t believe we should waste a lot of effort in trying to change a coaches diction or grammar. We aren’t trying to get Rhodes Scholars.

Here we go again. I don't think the kids give a rats azz. He can recruit at places like Bama and FSU and UGA. He's not good enough here though without a speech coach. You just can't make this stuff up. I think we need to fire some of these fans.

It’s distracting for me too OP but he’s from Alabama. He’s here to coach football. He doesn’t teach grammar because that is up to middle/high school teachers. Most curriculums require speech classes in college and he won’t be teaching those either. I wouldn’t worry about it.

It's very important for pruitt to come across as an intelligent guy when talking with parents. When he says things like we trying to win but they just done better than us...that doesn't come across well. The thing that's so frustrating is that he's a college educated guy that certainly knows how to speak proper English. He just uses "slang" because that's the way a lot of people he grew up around speak I'd guess. To me it's weird that a grown man and professional that makes over 4 million dollars a years is intentionally trying to sound dumb. I don't get it.

Beyond that, personally don't care how he talks.

Just wish he would have enough sense to not tell reporters on the sidelines during games he wants to recruit over his team.
Amen brother. His comment at halftime of bama game going into the lockeroom was the worst thing he could have said to inspire his team to give their all

This is idiotic. You think ed orgeron is losing all the great defensive players because " he no talk gud"? It's a non factor.

It's OK.

Orgeron is speaking the native dialect for Lousiana.

I think you may have hit on the single biggest problem with the team this season.

Pruitt was speaking Alabaman instead of Tennessean.

Get Pruitt a dialect coach and I see a bright future for this program.

I want a coach that knows how to and is capable of winning football games PERIOD. I don’t want an idiot like jones, but also don’t want a coach to tell his players on national Tv that they suck and are incapable of winning. Do you think that helped this team win?

I'm not even remotely saying he was wrong. It's been obvious for 2 seasons now this team needs to get an overhaul and get stronger, especially on the line of scrimmage.

I just fail to see how that helped the situation. Especially against his former team.

We had a coach like this, we fired him last year after going 4-8.
