Now that it is almost gospel that Kiffin is coming, has anyone heard or know for sure whether Monty is coming too? I know it has been rumored but I was just wondering what the latest was since the "Leak" has been announced.

Ummmm....NO. Would you leave a playoff NFL team where your bringing home a lot of cash to go coach a "rebuilding"(dont jump on my back for using rebuilding) college team? I dont think so. But he might, I dont know.

That would be pretty sweet. I believe he said he would like to coach with his son. Monte is 68 and may retire soon and already qualifies for the NFL pension. Guess we will find out in the coming weeks.

monte will be here with coach O. See the other threads.

I don't think it's official by any means. The only thing that makes me think that Tampa COULD PERHAPS avoid making a big stink of him walking away from his contract would be that they have a pretty good DC in waiting (can't remember his name). So...perhaps Tampa doesn't threaten to sue (which they probably wouldn't win anyway) and Monte can walk away without rocking the boat too much. In that case, then I could see him spend 3 or so years in Knoxville before he hands over the reigns.

We're paying Lane peanuts, so we can afford some good assistants....

Lane would be a good solid hire. Monte coming along would make Lane a great hire.

You would think Monte would join the staff in early January when the Buc's get eliminatd from the playoffs.....

I just want a hire that will make Florida and Alabama go oh f***.
Kiffin, Kiffin and Orgeron might just do it.

Monty has maxed out his retirement money, because he's been there for more than 20 years. So he'll be getting paid from the NFL, and go to UT and coach with his son. Not saying he is, but why wouldn't he?

Coach with his son and have the opportunity to see his grandkids everyday....I'm not real sure why he would turn that down.

It's not like the man needs money.
