Was the deciding factor on hiring Sunseri? Jimmy Hyams said this morning that Dooley had a verbal agreement with Kevin Steele and then Clemson's defense gave up 70 points in their bowl game. Hart apparently stepped in and was instrumental in Sunseri becoming our DC. If that's true, no wonder Hart is sitting back waiting on Dooley to implode after he loses one of these last 3 games.

Wait, Dooley had a verbal agreement with Clemson's DC, before he got fired? Before Wilcox even left? Seriously?

I have heard from reliable people that a deal with Randy Shannon was in place until Dooley **** on it in the 11th hour because he didn't want a big time name under him.

I'd trade giving up 70 in one game instead of giving up 40+ and 1 million yards every SEC game at this point.

This is the version I heard. Shannon was essentially locked up, but Dooley botched it and insisted on Sal.

Kevin was DC at Clemson and Alabama and was fired at both places. TN would be in the same shape it is today with Steele and the backlash would be worse!!!

The reason no proven DC wanted to come to TN was because Dooley is an unproven HC!!!

This wouldn't shock me. I remember hearing how Randy Shannon was in the bag. Hopefully we can just fire Dooley and get it done with. Tired of that limping piece of crap wearing orange.

I was thinking the same thing. Sounds like another made up story.

How about you guys check the timeline? I am not saying it is true. But Wilcox was announced to Washington on January 2, and the Clemson bowl game was January 4. So, it is certainly a plausible scenario. But I doubt anyone is going to know that for sure.

I will say that based on reports, Kevin Steele does still have affection for UT.

Not taking up for Dooley but I have a feeling Hart had a lot to do with Sunseri getting hired since they were both Bama boys.

Seemed like Skeeter tells the story differently. That Sunseri was Hart's guy.

So CDD was not allowed to be in on the initial negoiations for Shannon but he was able to put the Kibash on it? Interesting.

Wilcox left on Jan. 2 and Steele was not fired until Jan. 12.

No way it could be in any worse. No way. I also don't believe he was fired at Alabama. He left on his own and took the Clemson job. Seriously you guys need a fact checker. Lol

Idk anything about the situation, but when The commentators said, during the bama game, the sal basically said he didn't know if he could game plan against Pitt in a bowl game, I thought he had no business coaching anywhere in the SEC

I heard Hyams say the above this morning on the Sunday Sports show that starts @ 8:00am on Sunday's. The above is an accurate summary of what Hyams said today.
