Instead of TENN being so bad today, is it possible that WVU is a top 4 or 5 team in the country? I actually thought TENN would win today but that was based more on my ignorance of what WV actually had than anything else. Grier is the real deal. He is probably the best QB the Vols see this year including Al and GA. He is just as good as Baker Mayfield and will be drafted very high. A QB like him can completely change a college team. He is very good in pre snap reads, very accurate, gets the ball out quickly if needed, great arm, and he and the WRs are on the same page reading the defense and adjusting routes. Grier not only makes their offense great, he changes the way other offenses have to play, which also helps their defense. He is the type QB that if you put him on UT and JG on WV's team, the VOLS would have reversed the score. This nothing against JG, just that Grier is a rare talent.

Unfortunately we're bad right now. Hopefully we improve.

WV isn’t a National Title Contender but a solid team with a good QB.

Not to mention they’ve had good coaching compared to what our players went through under Butch.

They don’t believe they can win and it showed tonight.

Pruitt will have to take baby steps and get his team back to that winning mentality.

good teams beat bad teams like WVU beat TN today.

so in short, the answer to your question is simply............yes.

that answer can change as the season goes on, but today, just...yes.

Will Grier might be the best qb in the nation. His throws were on the money even when our guys were in good positions. We will know for sure when Florida comes into town.

West Virginia will be top 20 or 25 because of their defense. The score today was a blow out today because of conservative play calling by Helton. The game should have been competitive IMO.

Time will tell, but they looked like a pretty complete football team today, obviously highlighted by their passing attack.

We do have to remember that we are on a losing streak to every single team in the SEC, so maybe an NFL first rounder/Heisman candidate QB with really good wideouts wasn't an ideal matchup in Pruitt's first game.

I didn’t like the play calling either but it’s almost certain he was afraid to let JG hold the ball to long and take a sack.

We suck. We should have offered $10 million a year for a proven coach. We will wind up spending that much anyway when we are paying Pruitt's buyout plus his replacement's salary. It's a good thing that most of this fanbase has become expert in excuse making and enablement because that is all we will do for the next 3.5 years.

I will have to watch the game again but I thought JG had more time starting in the 2nd Qtr. Regardless of that , we should have started a 2 minute offense when we fell behind 20-7.

I didn’t like talking the ball first. That gave them the ball to start the second half. I’d rather kick it to start the game and put the defense on the field. But, that’s just me.

If you can watch that game again you’re a better man than me. I can’t stomach it!

It will be tough. Probably will watch to some degree to look at individual players performances like Bituli, Kongbo and the Offensive line.

Check back in at the end of the season after WVU plays TCU and OK. I don’t think they look good enough to be in the playoffs, but we won’t know until they play some good teams. TN has made many QBs look incredible, so maybe Grier is that good or perhaps it is the TN shine.

First time I have watched Grier and I believe he is that good. I do not believe WVU stacks up against TCU and OK though. They will not win their conference.

So I believe the WVU fans when they say this is their best team (no less than second best) they've had. They are at their peak (think about it, "their peak"). Top 4 or 5? I suppose you could make a case with the performance today. But I also saw one strong quarter of play taking advantage of a team running a brand new scheme while playing 3 freshmen, and a no-longer-suspect DL (it is suspect). That said one could argue they did what they were supposed to do......in the 3rd quarter.

Let's see what it looks like when they play a competent front 7. They'll probably look one dimensional......which they do well with Grier........but that is a tough way to live.

Right now, no, not a top 5 team. They'll have to more to prove that against a TN team. Let's talk when they win their conference.....if they can do it.
