...Does anyone else think Monte had a better defense with us last year than he has now at USuC? Watching them is almost comical. They have missed numerous tackles.

Ehh it's the first game......I'm glad he's not our D coordinator anymore

I'm noticing not only missed tackles but they are taking so many bad angles....I don't think Hawaii's offense is this good

Def had a better secondary here in knox. The usc db's r gettng torched. The usc dline and linebackers are better than ours was. Linebackers r a big strengh of theirs. Monty doesn't seem to scheme well against spread teams for some reason. Usc talent could shut them down given the right coaching.

Monte is not a good college defensive coordinator. He is only good against pro style offenses ala Bama. He will be gone in 2 years or less.

FWIW, the major problems are in the secondary. Much like UT, they lost a star SS and are having to replace him. Was our secondary last year better than this year's USC team? Possibly. Was our pair of safeties better? Certainly.

Yeah, I'm thinking the fact that they haven't been tackling n practice is hurting them.

USC is in for a long year if he defense isn't better there. His "D" gave up 289 points last year, third most in a single season in UT history.

I'd rather look at the amount of points per game instead of total. We played 13 games last year. Up until 2006 we weren't playing 13 games unless we were in the SECCG.

Using points per game it was the 5th worst ever at UT, not much difference. Last year was 22.23 ppg. Only in '88, '84, '04, and '07 did UT give up more points per game.

I love how Ambles dropped that pass with no one around. He was wide open and straight dropped the ball....Loser...

USC better be ready to out score teams to win.Hawaii def. was way too small and worse than USCs.I know its the first game but Monte is out of his league against A spread off.

Without all the excuses from last year, and with a whole off-season to prepare, Monte's loaded USC defense gave up 36 points to a Hawaii offense that's been atrocious and awful since June Jones left. By contrast, Wilcox's Boise State defense gave up 9 points and 7 points in two separate matches the last two years. Monte was awful against the spread or any comparably creative offense, pure and simple.

I think Monte was asleep , you never seen him on the sideline.USC def. sucks and they are in trouble this year. All that 5* talent.Stars are not everything.

I thought he defensed the spread just fine down in Gainesville. Who can account for Tebow? Without Tebow, we win that game IMO.

Confirmation for all of us who have been pointing this out since last season. Where are the Monte Sheep?
