Is it just me or does this year feel eerily similar to 2024 (Wouldn’t be a bad thing)

Week 1: SEC cupcake, QB on their first start
Week 2: ACC team with hopes of challenging for the title
Week 3: Cupcake
Week 4: Former Big 12 team with a bunch of storylines in this game
Week 6: road game vs Arkansas???

Those are eerily similar circumstances.

The biggest difference to me is there is not nearly the hype surrounding the Qb or the defense. Nico was primed to make a deep run, even though he and the especially OL clearly weren't ready yet once the whistle blew.

I don't think this is a playoff team unless one of those Qbs takes off into the stratosphere. I do think the D will be improved. I'm not sure they will be 24 good or good enough to carry the team. Based on rumblings from insiders, tFaizon has closed the gap with Gmac. That doesn't bode well for the Qb position imo. I think both are talented, but trying to win the SEC with a true Freshman usually doesn't go well.

If we get top 5-7 in the SEC or so production out of the QB...this team can make a lot of noise. WR room should be good. The o-line should be good and I think the defense will be sneaky good. Maybe dominant by season's end. I would not be shocked with 10 wins. Nor would I be shocked with only 5.

In reality, it feels this way b/c we're breaking in a new QB. Everything on offense doesn't really matter, except it's probably the difference between a 4 win team and a 6 win team...unless the defense is back up to par. Last year's D and 2024 offense isn't an equation for winning football.

So, if D is in the neighborhood of top 6ish in SEC, I think whomever wins the QB battle will be fine. Compared to 2024 QB is a +, WR is a +, RB is neutral to down, OL is +. The better the D is, the more we can rush the ball and keep some pressure off QB thinking they need to do everything.

So this coming season will be a shock to you however it goes! 😜

I feel like we won’t be talking about this team appearing weak and soft at the point of contact with our new strength and conditioning regimen
Incredibly incredibly overlooked piece of the puzzle that has been fixed...

That’s why I feel good about this defense, I feel like with the new s&c coach we finally have someone in there who’s an ******* (you need an ******* coach to win) coach Heupel ain’t an ******* coach he’s a bigger picture coach like-hate to make this comparison- Steve Spurrier (he was an ******* but in a different way). You need a coach that’s gonna get on your ass about the small details like screaming your head off when he sees you slack off for a gasser or one set of planks on a Friday in the offseason, no one talks about it enough but that stuff matters. The small details, no matter how small, matter, and that translates to physicality on the field, it translates to discipline on the field, and most importantly accountability

Fine by me just don’t lose @Arkansas this time
Let’s not have an embarrassing loss this time, let’s lose to a good team and let’s lose and keep our dignity instead of having or dignity run out of bounds on the last play of the game

This year's team will make us forget about last year. So many positive chnages have happed during the off season. New life for a poor defense and a lot more talent on both sides of the ball.

I think everyone needs to be prepared to be thought of as a bottom 1/3 SEC team entering this preseason . All the media outlets are going to downplay us . Everyone will concentrate on Texas and Arch as a top 3 team, Lane and LSU, the Gators new coach, aTm getting back to the CFP, UGA going Grand Theft Auto . We will be an afterthought, and I absolutely love it.

Good point. Though it always seems easy to throw the prior guy under the bus when we change. Hope they are actually THE BEST. Let’s face it, literally no one hyping us up. We have recruited really well the past 2-3 years and hit the portal really well to our weaknesses this winter. I think good chance we are a surprise team in upper tier.

Let’s just not lose any game

Man, what if it’s like ‘22 and (to use a double negative) we didn’t expect nothing and have a stellar season?

This means absolutely nothing
... "absolutely nothing" (!?)

The analysts in the video explain the details of several defensive formations our Vols will be implementing due to our new defensive coordinator and staff that, in theory, maximize our personnel.

They back they're theories with experienced analysis and have a flair for the orange-tinted glasses at times, I admit and enjoy. However, there is a lot to be gleaned from their insights, and you're free, of course, to add or object to whatever you like.

So, what exactly do you mean with your less-than-thoughtful post, and illucidate us with your superior prognostications a/o insights; if you would be so kind and could be troubled for more than 4 words...

It’s spring practice. Simple as that.
