Is it just me or are we starting to sound a lot like the Bammers...

wow, come on guys! we are UT VOLS... Fulmer has perennially recruited some of THE BEST classes in the nation, and we are content with 9-3?!?!? Yeah, 9-3 is a HUGE step from 5-6, but why settle and be happy? Even the domers said "9-3 is not good enough" after they came from a 6-6 (or 5-6?) year before. So, what... you guys want to become complacent at being an upper-middle SEC tier team? I don't. We have ALMOST as much talent as the Gators, yet we don't see the same results... why? Partly because of the way the ball seems to bounce sometimes....partly b/c we are not performing to our potential. I WOULD be happy with 9-3 if we were a less talented team like the irish, but we are NOT! Like I said, our recruiting classes have been some of the cream of the crop... we should be performing like... the cream of the crop. it's not like we are overcoming the plague of having untalented players... that talent has always been there... it's just being wasted.

all valid points, but talent is what kept us down this year...the three teams we lost to were clearly better than us.

and to me, not that i think that's OK or anything, but i don't lose as much sleep when i know we simply got beat by a BETTER team as opposed to last year where we consistently and continually beat ourselves by poor play, turnovers, penalties, coaching etc, etc, etc.

this year that was not the case. so in that, i'm content....but as stated, in the very near future, i think the talent part will get taken care of and by 08 and 09, we should be back in the fold on all accounts.

i agree that we were outmanned by LSU and UF this year, but we can beat teams that have better talent just like Oregon State beat USC or Arizona beat Cal. We can do that too. we have more talent than Arkansas at every position except RB. I don't think that the talent gap between us and the other two teams was even that large..

ARK was clearly better on the O line than us...the manhandled our D line. their DB's man handled our WR's too.

UF and LSU were both light years ahead of us on defense.

Offensively, skill position wise, we are as talented as any of those teams.

where we lost the boat was up front on both sides of the ball...that's where the gap is right now, both in talent and depth.

Call me crazy but sometimes i feel like we're no better than the Bama fans we pick on. Looking at some of the posts it seems like we should not be happy at all with 10-3/9-4 season. I can think of about 50+ schools in the a nation who would kill to have that record. And yeah i understand that theyre not Tennessee, but still. I mean come on folks. we bounced back from a miserable 5-6 2005 campaign and the 'not satisfactory without a NT shot' people are still coming out of the woodwork. I think that the 98 NT spoiled us. Lest we forget that prior to 98 we only one 2 other NT's. It aint exactly a cake walk to win national titles. We lost 2 close games (Florida,LSU) and got beat by a better Arkansas team. Now, with that in mind let's quit with the negativity.

WE ARE NOT BAMMERS!!! You should repeat that with me....

WE ARE NOT BAMMERS!!! there...dont yall feel better...i know i do.

This season is definitely a step in the right direction after last year's fiasco. I think some people are in jeopardy of sounding like Bammers although I don't think there is anything wrong with expecting perfection. National Championships don't come every year for any team, gotta keep it realistic. You just can't start talking about firing people after a couple of loses (I know nobody is talking about firing anyone at UT but I think Shula would have kept his job if they would have beat AU) I would like to see us in an SEC Championship game and BCS bowl next year. Gotta get over that UF hurdle.
