I just wanted to know everyones true outlook for the next 5 years or so......With Nick getting hired at Bama...Kentucky getting stronger each year and good ol Spurrier at South Carolina...Not to mention the razorbacks who seem to always give the vols a fit....It seems everyone in the sec is getting stronger and smarter and Tennessee although we had a winning season has fallen off the charts as the SEC powerhouse....Whats it gonna take for the program to turn around it needs to hurry with the Fanbase taking a fall and now the moral with the loss to Penn State....Tennessee bring back what it means to be a VOl..

yes it is. Even the sun won't rise tomorrow. what's the point. The SEC is so tough now we might as well get rid of our football program so we don't have to play these tough coaches and their teams. My tail is officially tucked between my legs. Good grief people

It's a tough conference. Always has been and always will be. We have just as much right and ability to be a tough team in the SEC as any other member team. Quit crying.

At some point, UT will wise up and make some coaching changes. Until then, we'll just keep talking about how good all the other coaches are and Phil will consistantly finish 2nd, 3rd, or worse in the conference.

Thats what I used to believe. But that doesn't explain why in bowl games against weaker teams in weaker conferences UT is losing.

Against Maryland, Clemson, and PSU UT was a favorite playing a weaker conference and still lost. If the tough conference was the problem UT would have been winning these out of conference games.

Don't assume that just because Saban is at Bama means he'll turn them into a powerhouse. I'm not saying he won't. In college ball there are a lot of factors. Saban won't have the same atmosphere at bama as he did at LSU. Whether that's good or not I can make no opinion.

My point is that great coaches are rarely consistent from venue from venue. See Lou Holz, Bear Bryant (at TAMU) and so far, Steve Spurrier (and I suppose maybe Les Miles). If Saban turns Alabama into the dominant team in the west, which even he must acknowledge as being difficult, you can say I was wrong.

But until we see how Bama does in the next two or three years (provided Saban doesn't leave them for a $1 billion-a-year gig with the arena league), I'm making no assessments.

Bear Bryant took Texas A&M from 0-10 to the SWC title. What's your point? Lou Holtz won at William & Mary, Arkansas, and Notre Dame. He did better than anyone had previously done at South Carolina. Spurrier won an ACC title at Duke. Again, what's your point?

I have doubts whether the Vols will win another SECC under the current coaching regime. Tehy have not shown that they can develop whatever talent they have (collectively). I think that the Vols wil be 2nd or 3rd in the east until such time as Fulmer retires....

Hat...whats's your opinion on the staff Saban has brought on so far? He had a great staff at LSU and I'm hoping he can duplicate that at Bama. Not getting Jimbo as OC was a big blow and there still hasn't been an OC named yet.

If they hire Major Applewhite, you'll forget Jimbo Fisher ever existed. I think Saban is assembling a staff befitting his stature as a coach.

I agree. Fulmer has a losing record against 4 coaches he has to play every year, Richt, Spurrier, Saban, and Meyer. He will have to do something different to change that.

Thanks for your response...I don't know much about MA, except he was a Texas QB, I hope we get him then.
