Is Guarantano the dual threat Dobbs was?

We're gonna experience a severe dropoff at the QB position next year, Dobbs was an amazing talent, and we're gonna miss him

I just don't think so in the least. A fine young man and an excellent runner. But we will not miss his lack of passing prowess.

I'm looking very forward to a new quarterback whomever it may be. Hopefully Guarantano. I just think in today's game a dual threat quarterback is better suited for success.

JG can throw the ball that's for sure. Bergen Catholic is the real deal too, one of the best high schools in the nation let alone New Jersey. They play great opponents just about every game in every sport. They are like a mini college and some of the best kids in the Northeast transfer there for whatever sport they play. His senior year they put it on American Heritage 37-7 and barely lost to IMG Academy which I believe is probably one of the better schools in Florida. I expect him to have a great career at Tennessee and I honestly expect him to win the job next season. Obviously I'm pulling for him because he is from my state but he can play.

With all due respect, him throwing in shorts and his HUDL film vs New Jersey high schoolers tells us very little. I'm excited to see him compete and play, he seems to have all the tools. But we're just not gonna know until we him do it on Saturdays.

I would put Bergen Catholic, Don Bosco Prep, Paramus Catholic, and Saint Peters prep against any high school football team in Tennessee and I would expect them to hold their own or win. And Bergen Catholic plays teams from Florida, Ohio, DC, and all over. Trust me the teams this kid played in high school should not be questioned.

No every qb that attends those events does not have positive articles about them. Some struggle. He looked great most of the week and literally had one bad day that dropped him. Nothing you posted shows he couldn't hit a receiver. He was top 3 for most of the competition and impressed everyone there. You are making things up.

So you are saying finishing as the number 6 qb out of all the hs qbs is a bad thing? He looked great and everyone that is paid to cover things like this said he was one of the most talented qbs there with great arm strength and accuracy.

I believe the first thing you said were along the lines that he was a monster at the elite 11 ( quoting Dilfer or something) idk something along those lines.. I corrected you saying he in fact was not a monster.. he was just as good as the other top QBs at the event.. I followed by saying that I watched his performance with my eyes ( I don't need articles to tell me if he looked good or not). I said he was not a top 5 and I was correct as he was 6 and you can see that from the article I posted. JG is a good qb there is a reason why he is the number 1 DT. That being said he did no way out shine or raise above any other qb that attended and finished top in the standings. Ill wrap it up again by saying my original point of not thinking he is very accurate.. just my opinion.. not trying to get anyone's feelings hurt.. This QB competition should be a good one for all of us to follow.. GO VOLS

What part of Number 1 dual threat QB leads you to doubt?

Considering that 247 had Dobbs as the #10 PROSTYLE qb when he came out, hard to just take 247 at face value. That said, JG looks awfully athletic and an actual dual threat qb. We'll see.

Strange.. he finished 6th overall ( not top 5..so I was correct !) .. did you even watch it? he literally missed almost every receiver.. posting cool articles about how he is a good player and he is showing promise at the elite 11 is non sense.. Every person that goes to the elite 11 has these article under their name.. they are all top recruits.. Id re watch and get back to me and let me know what you see regarding his passing ability and accuracy also id take a look at the final standings .. here is a good article for you to read.

I understand what you mean by looking at the high school tape, you never know what you're going to get. North Jersey has some of the best players in the country in the Non public group 5 division. Number 1 player in the country has come from Paramus Catholic 2 out the last 4 years in Rashan Gary and Jabrill Peppers. Not a big state so we don't put out the number of kids that a Florida, Texas, California, or the other big states but our top 30 kids are usually just as good as any state. Jim Harbaugh hits NJ hard and is part of the reason why Michigan is back, and he is a good coach obviously. Reason Rutgers suck so bad is they have never had a coach that can keep the best players in the state home beside Schiano. New Jersey is a crucial state for Penn ST, MIchigan, OSU, and Wisconsin. The southern states have great talent and more players so the SEC doesn't really have a reason to come up to a state like NJ.

Dobbs will be nearly impossible to replace from a running standpoint. He developed in his last season into a good deep ball passer. Hoping Guarantano will be great but will probably be a different type of player. Hopefully a better passer but will be hard to run better.

I think he has the potential to be better. At least from his H.S. highlights, he looks like a man among boys. College football in the SEC is an entire different animal though.
