IF it is true about Fulmer..
slowly getting in the heads of the major boosters to side with him...then that is a shame.

Now before people blast this post the key word is IF....yes remember IF as in i'm not saying it has happened for sure. It is speculation from other posters and hints from a personal friend who happens to be a big booster.

I guess you could say the claim I am making is this:
Fulmer is slowly talking to the major boosters for UT and high ranking personnel, behind the back of coaches and the AD, to jockey himself for a high ranking position in UT and get rid of certain individuals (Pearl and Hamilton).

Now...lets all take a step back and try to analyze the situation.
Would he do this? Is this his nature?
Is this not even remotely possible?
If it is true, what is your opinion?

The reason I post this is 1. I have been intrigued by the smoke around this rumor (especially after talking to the booster) 2. I hate corruption and despise cults forming inside a major institution- its the downfall to any failed society, corporation, government,etc... And there is no way this can be a positive thing.

So personally over the past few months I have noted when someone refers to Fulmer slowly trying to oust Hamilton in regard to improve his status. There have been several comments where people mention Fulmer having to much say in UT administration and coaching decisions. This is nowhere near Lowder and the Auburn corruption but IF this is true it falls under the same category.
The final personal comment I have is talking to a particularly important booster who is a family friend. Most of the talk focused on the positives of UT and its direction but he slowly hinted on a "group of men" that have their own thoughts on UT's direction. And when the topic moved to Pearl's future and the possible new Defensive Coordinator his comment was "Lets just say these situations might come down to a certain unemployed coach".

Now that this speculation has been laid out there and I also pay for this site so I think I have the right to post this kind of topic (sorry if it is too sensitive for some but the truth hurts IF true).
I would like for any opinions, thoughts, information, speculation, and heck you can even call me out.

You mean Fulmer would lobby for a position at the expense of someone already in that position???? I wouldn't peg him as the type of guy to do that.....

I agree with your statement (if sarcasm). I would not put anything past Fulmer after Majors and the Bama incident. I believe he still feels bitter for sure.

I love these Fulmer conspiracy theories. But, there could be something to it. I am sure he is looking for employment, would like to work again for UT and has some axes to grind. For me, I just wish he would go away.

I would think Fulmer would have his nose in it because he loves the university & he has known all the big boosters for quite sometime. I dont think we will ever hire him as AD, but not against him working with the athletic program in some fashion because of the love & knowledge he has of the Vols.

IMO, I think this is crap. There are alot of people who hate Fulmer and thats fine. They are entitled to that. But Fulmer brought Tennessee a national title and some great moments. He truly is a Vol and has spent most of his life and his families giving to the university. I also remember him giving $1,000,000 to the university. Now some may say that he did it so save his job, whatever its still $1,000,000!

Why do people hate this guy so much? Because they blame him for the fall of the later 2000s? IMO, the game just got a little to advanced for him and his staff and they couldnt keep up. As much as they wanted to because of their passion for the game they just couldnt. Its sad to see stuff like Fulmer and Bowden get ousted in a bad manner. Watching some YouTube of games from the late 90s was awesome. Im sure he had minor Violations because everyone does but he always kept us out of hot water and represented with class. I think hes a great guy and great for the university. GBO

If people would have just left Fulmer alone and let him coach the university that he loves he wouldn't have to try to get revenge on certain individuals.Do you not realize that this man bleeds orange and would do nothing to hurt UT?And BTW I'm joking about all of this I just wanted to get some of you riled up this morning :).In all seriousness, if any of this is true someone needs to step in and give Phil a strong dose of reality that he is the reason the football program is where it is right now and it would be in everyone's best interests if he just stays the hell away from UT altogether.

just from observations, seems Mike is working on that fairly well without any help from anyone else.

Where to begin?I hate the hand clapping and gum chewing when the team went 3 and out because of inferior play calling or an absolutely stupid play.I hate the fact that he would stick with the same coaches even though they shouldn't have even been coaching at the elementary level let alone D-1 football.I hate the superiority complex he has.I hate the fact that he's a fatass.I hate the look on his face when giving up 20 yards on 3rd and 19.I hate how he will not accept any thing as his fault.I hate how his lip quivers when he cries.I hate when he says "Work like heck".I hate Phillip Fulmer Way and Phillip Fulmer's ways.I hate him giving only a $1,000,000 to the university after he took much more than that.I hate...do I need to go on?

This is quite an interesting comment since all those coaches are still coaching at D-1 level after being let go at Tennessee. Most are making more money than what they did at UT also.

the game passed fulmer by, not his asst. though. had he left dave clausen alone there is no telling what he could have done. he ran off cutcliff by not playing coleman, then he wouldn't let dave call his on plays. imo he would make chavis play the mustang package so not to give up the big play, then they would drive it down our throats. fulmer was his own worst enemy.

First - the selection of the defensive coordinator if one is needed is probably 99.9% the responsibility Coach Dooley - not the AD. Perhaps the AD signs off or approves it.

Second-- Fulmer would be the last person I would want selecting a OC or DC as I seem to recall him botching that badly.

Thirdly -- Fulmer might genuinely bleed orange -- but he has no experience. He could not recruit offensive linemen and he played OL - what would lead anyone to think that he would be a good AD?

Fourthly -- He is off mismanaging big UT donors financial matters -- or encouraging them to invest their money in the firm he works for -- seems like there would be a conflict if he also tried to get them to give to the university.

Fifthly -- You think they give Hammy a hard time anytime things so wrong -- .

Sixly-- Wouldn't totally surprise me -- stupid is as stupid does and Fulmer can network and lobby with the best of them.

Yes and they are piling up championships left and right aren't they?Chavis is a great coach on 1st and 2nd down then guess what?He chokes, it's not an opinion it's a fact and Dan Brooks has done nothing, Cutcliffe will never win at Duke. Support Fulmer or his coaches all you want it doesn't change facts not matter how you look at it.Just because you are have a job doesn't make you qualified just look to D.C. for proof.
