Bill King this morning in his little midget and arrogant ways tried to make the case that Fulmer was stabbed in the back and snubbed once again. He said this is twice that Fulmer has been stabbed in the back since he stabbed Majors in the back. There is no truth to any of this....

I have read countless posts on VolNation about Fulmer being mad and upset that he didn't get the AD job? Where are people getting this information?

How was Fulmer ever a legitimate candidate with absolutely zero administrative experience?

I wanted Fulmer to be hired by Blackburn (had Blackburn been hired), in an assistant AD capacity.

How do we know that Fulmer isn't very happy with this hire? He worked with Fulmer before. How do we know they don't already have a great relationship?

I would be hurt if I were Fulmer or Blackburn. They both bleed orange. It is Blackburn's dream job.

Clearly you haven't read the other threads on this.

If I'm Fulmer, why would I want to be AD? Maybe in an honorary capacity but why take on this responsibility?

It's a natural reaction to be hurt when you don't get something that you want/tried really hard to get. It stings to lose a promotion/potential client/woman/big fish that you worked really hard to get and that you feel like you deserve.

However, you have to realize there's a reason why things happen......

By all accounts, Fulmer had no desire to be AD initially. Only considered being a candidate once he found out that Blackburn wasn't a serious candidate and that Currie was. Generally though, I agree with you. Fulmer needed the AD position at this point in his life like he needs a hole in the head.

First, your first mistake was listening to Bill King.

Second, Fulmer shouldn't have ever been considered due to lack of experience. He was totally under qualified so how in the hell was he stabbed in the back?

Third, I don't expect Fulmer to be close buddies with Currie. I didn't expect Fulmer and Blackburn to be close buddies either if it had gone either way there.

Fulmer wasn't remotely snubbed. Snubbed would imply he deserved the job.

Currie got his masters from UT, does that really make him a UT guy?

"Currie returns to Knoxville, where he earned his master's degree and served in various capacities from 1997-2009, including time in external operations, development, marketing and ticket operations. He left UT in 2009 to accept his position at Kansas State." -utsports.com

kinda makes him a UT guy...............

And just for the record, whatever that's worth. If Phil is upset about this hire because he honestly doesn't think it's a good move for the University, based on information that I don't have a clue about, then I might be a little more reasonable and understanding. But, if it's just because it wasn't him and/or because of resentment towards Currie because of the past, then I couldn't care less.

Ha. While reading this checking for errors, I realized, I actually should care a little. Whether I think he should or shouldn't be upset, how important is his relationship with Currie to the University?

I don't know and that's why I'm glad my opinion doesn't matter. I'm really just "thinking out loud" at this point. Lol.

If Fulmer really loved his university as much as people claim, he wouldn't have taken that huge buyout that forced us to hire 2nd and 3rd tier coaches.

The university doesn't owe him anything. He was compensated for the job he did here and then he was let go.

He's not mad that he didn't get the job.

He's mad that he was asked to get involved, then mislead, then not told he didn't have a chance to get the job when the Chancellor put her foot down and said the hire HAD to be someone with prior AD experience and then gave him a token interview when Currie was already the guy.

That's what he's mad about and I think he's right to be mad, honestly.
