UF has had an amazing 5 year run. It seems like they have their share of problems to worry about now. I think with this whole Meyer thing, their time is up for now. I can't see Meyer being nearly as effective anymore for multiple reasons. They may squeak through to Atlanta next year, but after that, they'll be playing second fiddle to Lane Kiffin and UT. So I want your opinion on this.

And before anyone says, "This should be in the other sports forum," I put this in here because if Florida's run is done, there is nothing really stopping UT from multiple trips to Atlanta over the next few years.

Absolutely not. They could hardly screw-up what they've got going with their recruiting hotbed and publicity. Whatever comes from the Meyer drama, they will at least continue to contend for SEC championships for the foreseeable future.

uhhhh...no. Who will knock them off this year? Tennessee? Not there, yet. UGA? No chance. USClite? Still dreaming.

If the staff remains in tact, Florida's backup QB is plenty capable of delivering strikes and running the offense. Plug and Play.

their National Championship runs, and dominating the SEC east is over. They will still be a good team, but will fall to 2-4 loss seasons from here on out.

They should always be good, but I don't think they can live up to what they have done over the past several years. All great teams slip up. I don't see them being as dominate going forward as they have been.

A lot guys are leaving the program this year Strong isn't there to run the Defense, a lot wholes in the armor of Florida

Urban Meyer has always been a great coach, but I don't think things will be the same. Florida's offense completely dropped off without Harvin and Mullen this year, even with what some consider to be one of college football's greatest players leading the way. Now Strong is gone as well. They have talent coming in, but they still lose a whole bunch of talent, and I'm not sure the new guys will be as good. Add that to the fact that Meyer will likely never be the same. Recruits won't be sure how long he'll be here, and I don't think he'll be able to coach as well with concerns for his health. I think that next year the East is wide open, then after that it's Kiffin vs Saban.

Saban has separated himself from Meyer and he wont look back. Florida will win the east one more time as a given. After that it becomes a toss up between Tennessee and Florida. I for one predict that Meyer wont be back. What transpired this weekend was a desperate attempt to do short term damage control. This was their best option. But Meyer and Florida are done.

This is stupid. Especially considering that he's likely not going to leave after all. Even if he really is leaving and this is a ploy to keep some recruits, Florida is far and away a better program than anyone else in the East right now.

I agree that Brantley appears plenty capable at qb but he is hardly the type you can plug in to the current offense. The offense will have to be adjusted for his abilities.

I agree that Florida is far from done though, I think the offense will be much more balanced and in some ways better than the offense we saw under Tebow.

I agree. They won't fall apart, but they won't be the big gorilla of the East every year either.

Not far and away, and it is not stupid. Florida loses the house this year in terms of talent and coaching. They are going to lose at least two conference games next year. Two conference games could easily keep you out of the SEC title game. If you are out of the SEC game, you are out of the converstation. They only beat Tennessee by ten with Tebow, and the rest of that army, plus they had Strong's defense intact. All of that has changed. They might, I stress MIGHT beat Tennessee next year. Things are going to be different next year folks. Wait and see.

its a good thing we are talking about next year, and not right now.:p
I'm thinking 2 years ahead more than anything. I find it hard to imagine that UF will be superior to UT after next year. Even the best coaches fall apart. I very much doubt an unhealthy Meyer can keep up with Kiffin and Saban.

A lot of Florida fans are worried about the damage Adazzio will do as the head coach for a year.

No one knows what Addazzio has. But he sure isnt as intimidating as Meyer leading the Gators. That will be enough for some teams to get it done. Without Timmy and Urbie nuzzling across the field, the Gators just arent the Gators.

I don't see this thing going on very long, either Meyer will be their coach or not. This deal can only hurt them in the near future. Florida will still have talent yes, but i don't think there is anyway they continue like it's been. There has to be some drop off at some point, all signs are pointing that that time is beginning now.

Has anyone seen the reaction from around the country? Meyer is a laughing stock right now. Everybody is kicking him. The only coach more unpopular right now is Jim Caldwell. This is going to severely damage this program for the next couple months. After that, I think they have to make a change.

Put your resignation in...

Put your resignation out...

Then shake it all around...

That's what's it all about!

UF is in the middle of an ocean of top prospects. They will get their share regardless of how incompetent they seem to be. This is not to say that they will stay entirely at the top, but they won't tolerate mediocrity for long. Tebow leaving, the loss to Bama, close games at home to UT and ARK are the reasons CUM is having health problems. He sees the near term as a downswing and doesn't want to take the blame. He can come back later as the Messiah (like someone else in the news has done).
