In this economy with unemployment so very high, is Dooley worth over $166,000.00 a month to UT's Football program? My God the poor Guy

My goodness, how many different ways can people come up with different thread titles that say the exact same thing?

In any economy are college football coaches worth millions? Unfortunately the answer is yes as much as I hate to admit. Myself, like many other fans couldn't believe the Saban contract when it first came out. The Saban hire has actually turned into a bargain for Alabama after the success he's brought them. Does that mean UT can just pay big bucks and recant the money? No it doesn't, however a big name could turn around the pocketbooks in the short term.

I've got a simple solution to the coaching problems of buyouts. If we can get at least 102,000 fans to pledge 10 dollars a month for a year we could raise 12,240,000 for buyout. So stop the whinning. money talks & bull*&$@ walks.

Good grief. I'd feel like an a-hole with a big capital "A" if I helped pay for a buyout of 12 million dollars while people starve and the country goes down the tubes in debt and deficits and never ending wars. Man.

A big name coach fills your seats at the game and gets us to a big time bowl game. Which both means more money.

Well since he cost UT about $1 million last Saturday in empty seats, I would say no.

Yeah because 103,000 people want to come watch Tennessee play Troy.

Empty seats have nothing to do with Dooley or our record.

You people think 70-80k people are a "empty stadium".

85% of college programs dont even hold that many

I was watching Giants vs Steelers this weekend, and the stands only had 80k people in it.

UT reported they had 84k at the game vs Troy........that was more people the NFL games.

It amazes me how everyday I say "Well, this is it... The pinnacle of human stupidity was achieved right here, and lucky me I got to witness it."

BUT THEN!!! SOB if the next day doesn't top the previous... I can only imagine the op and posters like him have huge career opportunities ahead of them at McDonalds, maybe Kinko's if they impress someone... Because dear god, if these people are out functioning in the normal world with the likes of those making positive contributions to the human gene pool, I simply don't want to live on this planet anymore...
