I'm not going to say that Dooley is going to be
a failure at UT...that remains to be seen. But a
question I have...has Dooley already been "defined." If
one thinks a coach can't be defined this early in his
tenure remember Buzz Peterson.

By the middle of his first year at UT Buzz had already
received the mantle of a hard-luck coach. Remember all
the horrible losses early in his career? The 3-pointers
at Louisville..one off the backboard? Incredible shots
by Georgia...Miss.State...not fouling and giving up
3-pointers against UK and UF UK...fouling and letting
Nebraska get a FOUR-point play to lose a game...on and
on. Peterson was pigeon-holed early...nice guy...looks
good...not the brightest bulb...snake-bit....

Has Dooley already positioned himself? Nice guy...looks
good...maybe in over his head...not attentive to
details...kind of a goofball in interviews. That's
where I think this "Rommel" nonsense may, fairly or
unfairly, harm Dooley. Now the whole thing WAS much ado
about nothing. And the whole PC world we live in is
ridiculous. But it reinforces the view that maybe this
guy isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer. Not in
intellect...but in the shark-infested waters of the
SEC...with the Sabans, Meyers and Spurriers...can this
guy avoid getting the "Loser" label?'

I love America. A place where anyone can say just about anything. A place where guilty until proven innocent is not just a catch-phrase but a standard we live by. What's next...hang him, it'll teach him a lesson?

No, he's not. Dooley has been working his rear off for the team. Buzz was a nice guy, but he spent a lot of time playing golf when he should have been trying to make his team better.

No they are not the same. Buzz' wife Jan was way hotter than Allison Dooley. But other than that I see the comparison. lol

The younger instant gratification crowd is amazingly shallow.

Anyone with a half clever mind could compare Dooley or anyone else with anyone. We could make up credible stories to compare him to Pearl, Obama, Vince Lombardi, Saban, CUM, Mussolini or just about anybody.

All of this banter is just BS to get rumors and bashing started. People have fun with it, though.

Much more like Kevin O' Neill in practice.

He has none of Kevin's problems with politics though. He is the anti Kevin there.

Also Buzz had no idea what was happening in his program to the extent that his assistant was selling crack. Dooley knows what everyone does who crosses the threshold of his building.

No, he is UT's version of Mike Shula.

I've always thought that at worst he's our version of Mike Shula. But he needs a little time to see what he can do. Quotes like this give me hope: Saban: "(Vols) had a good game plan and took advantage of some things. They've got good coaches."
