The message from Currie seems to be that Butch is his man. One gets the idea that Butch could drown a bag of kittens and punch a sports writer at his presser and Currie would just look the other way. What is the real story? Is it all about the buyout? If Butchs ego and pride is as big as it appears then why does he want to stray here where it is obvious he isnt wanted. An honorable man would make a deal ( a reduced BO) and resign. He knows that he has failed . I just dont get it.

if season ticket sales plummet by 50%- then is it really cheaper to keep Botch?

I feel that Butch is gone but they are trying to reduce his buyout...fired for cause, make him quit, negotiate. This is a pattern here. Fire a coach, make a bad hire. Let the rationalizing begin, the coach apologists are out in force, until they're not... everyone hates this guy. When is he going to be fired. We ALL never liked this hire. Coach is fired.

I already posted in another thread that apparently, he's made of Teflon and titanium and received an infinity extension

I'm starting to think maybe it's actually he's letting Jones stay until he actually wins and then he's out, so he can leave a winner....sort of. So he's got 4 chances left...well 3 I guess, because if we don't win before Vandy, he might just go ahead and make it official.

You wouldn't give up millions and neither will he. Has nothing to do with your honor nonsense

He's already done it's just playing itself out

I am afraid of what is to come. I want Butch gone, yesterday, but I have no confidence in our AD to make a good hire.

They Replaced JFK in 5 minutes, nobody is irreplaceable

edit...
*of course my wording was bad, I was speaking of firing him not suggesting JFK's outcome in any form or fashion, shame I have to edit and note this but in todays "offended society" I wanted to be clear.

Yep.

the flip argument is that an honorable university would abide by the contract they signed but for some reason people think the university should be able to get out of the obligation they made.

So long as both parties acted in good faith the honorable outcomes is to honor the contract unless both agree to some change.

That would be a horrible strategy. Total incompetence

Butch is fireproof until Currie fires him after last game. There will be much spilt orange paint on the campus if Butch lasts more than 24 hours past the last game. Just will not and cannot happen.

No there's not. Stop the overreaction

there is not evidence to fire him with cause. I'm really starting to think Currie does want to keep Butch :ermm:

Don't know how to feel about the situation at this point. On the one hand, I would really enjoy seeing TN win their last 4, finish 7-5 & win their bowl. This would be my first choice. However, in no way whatsoever do I want to see Butch back next year. To me, along with 90% or more of the fan base (in my opinion) that would be terribly discouraging.

Hopefully it works out with Currie coordinating behind the scenes and Butch takes another job elsewhere with less pressure and lower expectations.

GO VOLS!!!

Butch is starting to remind me of Costanza on Seinfeld. Trying to get fired. Blowout losses to GA and Bama. Lose to SC and KY. Response from Butch "I fear no reprisals"
