I’ve been really excited to see him in this offense. I think it’s telling that they trust him as much as they do right now given that he was a late addition and was pretty much an afterthought in camp due to eligibility questions.

Thus far he’s shown strong hands (catch over the DB vs Ball St) and toughness (3rd down conversion vs Pitt) which are two very JJ-esque traits.

Honestly though, I think he tracks the deep ball better than JJ did. That TD versus Pitt was impressive. To get pushed off your line like that and still make the adjustment to run under the ball showed some freakish vision and athleticism.

It remains to be seen if he’ll be a tackle-breaking cultural phenom like JJ was, but the fact that we are even having the conversation says a lot. Can’t wait to see what he does!

Kelley Washington was a force when running.
I don't think Bru is that type of player.
Velus Jones seems a more apt comparison.

I don't know if Bru will be "a force" when running, but I don't see the comparison to Velus Jones.

Bru is listed at 6'3" 220 lbs. Velus is listed at 6' 200 lbs. By comparison, Kelly Washington was listed at 6'3" 217 lbs.

Bru also plays outside opposite Tillman whereas Velus Jones was a slot receiver. Hyatt has filled that spot.

In the Pitt game Bru made 2 plays that made me think of JJ the third down play where he steamrolled the DB to get past the marker. And of TD where he got forced out of bounds but fought back to get the TD. He just seems to have a level of dog in him.

What number is on Bru's Jersey?

Oh Yeah!

Bru isn’t at the level of Kelly Washington. Not even close to be honest.. I didn’t care for Kelly’s antics, but he was a damn beast that had to be accounted for. Man I miss having a team full of NFL talent and knowing we were going to mash teams like Pitt!
Bru is certainly an elite talent to be fair - and I love watching him play!

His style of play and size certainly remind me of JJ, but (for right now) the difference is JJ spent his full collegiate career here at UT. He got kicked off the team but came back because he loves TN. He’s a true VFL. I don’t mean any knock on Bru, but he is the new kid on the block. He has big shoes to fill to become JJ status lol. But yes, he’s a beast and I’m thrilled he’s with the good guys.

Nope, not a JJ. JJ was a Pitt bull - Rottweiler hybrid. Such creatures are rare. They come in the likes of Dick Butkus, Jack Ham, John Riggins, Larry Csonka, Jerome Bettis, Earl Campbell, Bo Jackson, Jim Brown, and Bronko" Nagurski.

McCoy could end up being a Calvin Johnson or Terrell Owens (without the baggage and drama).
