I know Auburn fans are really excited about how their team has turned around and is so much better than last year, but is it really?

Last season in Auburn's first 4 games

Record 3-1, loss was to LSU (21-26)
outscored opponents by more than double 85-41

This season in Auburn's first four games

Record 4-0, but West Virginia is their best opponent so far, and they haven't quite doubled their opponents scores 181-97

Auburn is scoring 45 points a game this season, sounds good but that is only 18 points a game more than their opponents are allowing on average. For comparision Tennessee's anemic offense is scoring 10 points a game more than our opponents have allowed on the average this season.

Worse yet, Auburn's defense is allowing opponents to score 5 points a game more than they normally do; While Tennessee's defense is holding teams to 9 points less than the normally score.

We'll find out in a little over 50 hours how much, if any, better they are this season.

You make a great point! Makes me feel better about Sat's game! Lets just hope JC doesnt screw it up! First SEC home game of the year, sounds like a perfect time for him to choke!!

Au has more team chemistry. The players have all bought into their roles and are supporting each other. I think we like the flow better on offense. Our qb is playing lights out as well. Don't be fooled by the numbers. We are seeing lots of our second and third units getting significant playing time. I think we are more excited because of how our year ended last year. 5 of our 7 losses were by 4 points or less last year. We would sit on leads, until we lost them. This year we go for the juggular. 2 times scoring points with less than a minute and a half to go in the half. just a different attitude. I think we are just excited for a new chapter, more so than the teams performance.

No question the offense is better. Remember our game and the MSU game?

To me the big questions are: is the D better, worse or the same and how deep are they.

That pretty much sums it up.:cool2:

Also if AU had our first 4 games I think they would be 2-2, 3-1 at best IMO. Let us not forget, UCLA is the only undefeated team in the PAC-10.

Now look, I respect that ya'll have played some good teams but measuring UCLA by being the only undefeated team in the PAC-10 is just plain silly. Its the PAC-10 for goodness sake.

So you dont think WV is a legitimate team?
What about Miss St? You mention LSU but yet Miss St would have been LSU last week if they hadnt wasted their chance on the last play of the game.

Auburn's QB play is much better than last year. As for the Vols.... well, Pornstache's stache is still just as cheesy.

One thing that concerns me a little... Auburn ran for 390 yards on Miss St... and LSU only ran for 30 yards on Miss St. Not sure if that speaks to auburn's greatness or LSU's ineptness.

On the other hand, WVU beat Auburn in nearly every statistical category... but still lost because of 6 turnovers.

My point is, UCLA may be better than people thought, thats it. As far as being the only undefeated team in the PAC-10 I was just stating fact not crowning them the best team in college football.

WVU turned the ball over how many times against Auburn? And no, WVU is not that good.

Every UT fan knows what to expect from LSU's D. It's not surprise Chavis couldn't stop a Mullen-led offense.

Interesting but fail. Auburn lost but I thought we were still talking about this year. So I guess all the sudden the Pac-10 is such a great conference? Im not sold on that.

No I dont think WV is a good team, not this year! PAC-10 is better than the Big East IMO.

It will all boil down to matchups. Our RB's against thier LB's, our secondary against AU's receivers, and so on. Also, coaches against coaches. It should be an interesting game. I think both teams are pretty evenly matched. I'm excited to see what Monte has up his sleeve this time around against the Malzahn offense.
