Gonna be a close game, tough, physical game, as I have said from the beginning. Somewhere in the range of 7-10 points difference. I originally believed the hype of the Vols and thought that VT would be on the losing end of that score, but now...I just don't know. I watched the game last night, and I was shocked, to put it mildly of what transpired on the field.
I knew that Appy State would come to play as they are known for the "blue collar/physical" games. I just didn't think the Vols would be so flat on offense. The OL was horrible and was being man handled by 250 lbs...2 star kids! Dobbs was less then spectacular and made poor decisions. The Defense however, played pretty good, especially in the 2nd half.
I need to see the execution of the Fuente offense "in game" to get a real good idea of what to expect, but I say this with all due respect. If the offense we saw last night shows up for Bristol...the Vols are in trouble! VT will bring the same "blue collar / physical play that App State brought, with bigger, faster players.
I would expect CBJ, to be all over his team this week in practice and try to right the wrongs that happened last night....but IDK, as he has had all summer to get it right for the first game. The OLine is the problem from what I could see on film! It all starts with them and if they don't execute, allowing the RB's to hit lanes, its going to be a long night as Foster will load the box and force Dobbs to throw. Last night Dobbs had about an average of 3 seconds before someone was on top of him. They fix the line issues, then the Vols should win a close one.
