Is Alontae Taylor good?

And how many times has he been beaten deep when failing to stuff the receiver at the los? I saw 2 plays against USCe alone
I need you to provide the video of this or tell me a time during the game because I don’t recall. I know that he was beaten twice vs Missouri, but even Darrell Revis was beaten occasionally. I’m not holding it against him.

I think that Taylor definitely has NFL talent, not sure he has what it takes between his ears though. Mental lapses are nearly always his problem ...letting WR get behind him when there is no safety help coming over the top etc. (hello BYU loss) hopefully he can figure it out mentally, he could be an All American if he does ....

Only 1 poster here pointed out a VERY important fact...the reason why we see Alontae so much is because QBs will not throw Bryces way because HIS man is never open. There's a reason Bryce has all the accolades that he has, he doesn't get beat. Great corners do not fill up the stat sheet ( 1 poster pointed out that Taylor has mucho tackles etc this season) when a corner is truly dominant, the opposing QB is SCARED to throw the ball his direction. Dale Carter was this way, Eric Berry was too 🔥👌...they knew better than to throw the ball..

I think it was PFF that had all the stats from last year, and Shamburger didn't give up a single TD last season and led all DBs in FBS in yards allowed or something crazy like that? We have a lot of talent on the back end . CjP has done an amazing job building our roster, and he likes big corners and safeties 6ft or better that can play press man coverage, and lay the lumber when a ball carrier comes their way.

Anyway, hope we get healthy back there. Go Vols .

I never said that he isn't good. I said he has talent and athleticism, but runs his mouth too much like a punk!

Learn to watch the players instead of the ball and you just might learn something besides reading the stat line at the end of the newspaper article.

You’re wrong on this one pal

Lol I played it. But whatever. How about you learn what you are talking about before you make stupid comments.

Also, you said “he is having a bad season” yet he has already produced 1/3 of his stats from last year in just 2 games....

Did he even allow a completion vs South Carolina?
Nope and other than the BYU game and last Saturday you're not going to find much tape of Taylor getting beat. I'd bet there are less than 10 times in his whole career, maybe as little as 5 times.

How about USCe's 2nd possession of the game....their TE, #9, beats him down the field on the play when the QB scrambled out of the pocket and barely overthrew him for a TD.
He tried to jack him at the line and got schooled and outran down the field by a TE. That's not good CB play.
And I'll guarantee you Pruitt wasn't pulling an punches when he watch the film with Alontae.

Well, for someone who allegedly played---you sure don't know how to go back and watch the game film to see how many times Taylor gets his ass beat.
Just because the QB doesn't get the ball into the receiver's hands doesn't mean that a DB didn't get beat on a play.

And UGA's Pickens just may be the guy who takes him to school and costs us another W--just like BYU.

And I think Taylor definitely has NFL talent at CB....but he needs to settle his emotions, quit talking so much sheet, and play the position.
That's what being a TEAM PLAYER looks like.

You just named 1 time, go and find me 5 of them. I've studied the tape, go find more than 2 or 3 times where he gets beat, you CAN'T because that tape doesn't exist.

Lol, again just because he got beat a few times doesn’t mean he is doing bad. He has made some great plays. You are going to get beat every once in a while and with limited practices it is expected.

The kid is already playing better than he did last year. He hasn’t given up any big plays.

Also, since you want to bring up being a “Team Player” he threw two big blocks for Henry Ts pick 6 and threw big blocks for Theo Jackson’s interception. On top of that he had one of the best run through blocker and tackles I’ve seen in a long time during the SC game.

Your words to describe Taylor so far have been as follows:
- A Punk, Not a Team Player, Playing Bad, etc. and none of those are correct.

So keep on trying to portray your points of view but they are wrong. He is a good football player who got beat on a few plays trying to jam his receivers at the line who still hasn’t given up a big play. Oh and stats wise he is our best CB at the moment.

Okay....Do you NOW understand my point....Taylor gets beat down the field and has to give up 15 because his ass can't cover
