Is a five-year deal worth $25 million enough?

I'm going to stop you right there champ. The article said "AT LEAST" five years and $25 million.

(PS. I made the same mistake earlier)

It depends on the HC and how much money is allocated for staff

Don’t know why they even release figures like that before a coach is even hired. Probably just a media guess

If this is all we are offering, what can we expect to get?

That's bad news if those are actually the leading candidates.

Fuente has already said he's staying at VT. Pruitt would be a disaster; good DC, but terrible human being, completely lacking in maturity and leadership qualities. No one is going to be excited about Kevin Steele. Les Miles would be a disappointing hire IMO, but not a disaster; but probably condemns us to 3rd place in the SEC East. Tee Martin is the only one on that list that I'd be remotely excited about. Tee's a risk, but he'd grab top recruiting classes and likely be able to assemble a top-notch staff.

If that's the list, it makes me regret that we didn't close out a deal with the Pirate King when we had a chance.

Pretty frustrating to be honest. The fanbase is clamoring for a winner, someone proven.

Months and months to prepare. Is this really all that the best and brightest on the Hill can come up with? 3 coordinators, 1 unemployed HC and someone that with no intentions of coaching in the SEC?

You wouldn't take a Les miles hc and Martin oc/hc in training?

That makes since.... I was told today that we should know by midweek closer to Thursday... Also said that we would be happy with the hire with new and old dives on the coaching staff... Also said we would e happy with the deal terms do to it's flexibility to get the support staff we need... It should be done by Thursday... I still think it's Les Miles and Phil is just doing his due diligence...

We shouldn’t be paying more money for a college coach then NFL teams pay for a head coach. This $7million a year thing is going to cause a lot of problems for schools when ESPN and other media starts to dry up.

"It's Les Miles" followed by "Phil is doing his due diligence"

Which is it? Because it can't be both.

It is sad. We’ve known for months (realistically) that this was coming. Pis* poor management.

You will never get Lane Kiffin for that. Have we not learn anything by going cheap. EX: Butch Jones and Derek Dooley. How did that work out for us? Watch Lane Kiffin will be picked up by Florida State and we will be sitting in our chair wondering whether we can win 6 games while he is winning and heading toward a Championship.

Great pic of the wise old Owl - Lane Kiffin. It will be tough to sign Lane - Florida State is likely to make him a $10 million a year man. :eek:lol:

Kiffen would probably fare well in Knoxville. But it is not going to happen.

Had he left with a hint of class it might be a consideration at this point. He put TNT on the bridge to Knoxville. If he is successful elsewhere, we'll be watching from afar.

Check out Clemson Defensive Coordinator. I believe he could be what the doctor ordered. Get him but it will cost a tad more. But, in the end, it would be worth it.
