Dereon Albert and Darryl Rivers are two true IDL committed, and we've also got Golston and Groves who profile as SDEs. However, one could argue that especially in a) the portal era and b) the year we're moving to 105 scholarships, we should be trying to sign as many high quality DL as possible.
To that point, not only are we bringing in stud Edge Dre Quinn for his OV for the Vandy game but we're also scheduled to host 3(!) additional DL for OVs in JUCO Jaylen Thompson, UCLA commit (in name only) Carter Gooden and and late riser Franklin Whitney.
Callahan said we're likely only going to take one more DL, which I don't think I agree with if true for reasons stated above. Further, Thompson is a completely different prospect than the other two as a 2nd year JUCO guy who should be projected to contribute immediately next season vs. the two high schoolers (neither of whom, fwiw, have been to UT before). So Thompson, who's also from Memphis, seems the much more likely signee of the 3 if we are only to sign one. But it's both promising to get all of these guys in for the last possible OV before NSD and also a little frustrating if we're only signing one more.
