I took a look at nbadraft.net today which I do about once a month, and the latest mock draft (although it's early) has Tyler Smith at #13. If he's projected anywhere near a lottery pick I think he'll go. Also, the respected draft guru Aran Smith, mentioned him second to Eric Gordan among players improving their draft stock of late.

Any thoughts?

any ranking that has devon hardin solidly in the first round (let alone even making an NBA squad) should not be considered a viable source of information.

Devon Hardin is 6'11 and athletic, and regardless of his skills he'll be a first rounder on that alone. And if you've seen him play since he's been healthy you'd realize he's got a lot of potential and will play in the NBA next year.
I thought the projection of Tyler Smith's status was rediculous too, especially the comparison to Jeff Green. I was just making sure that wasn't missing something that everyone else was seeing. Hope to see Tyler in orange through at least his Jr season.

This guy was a projected first rounder before the season started. Nothing new here.... he's produced on both ends of the court and hasn't fully got going yet. Once he's more assertive offensively we'll see what he can really do.

You have to remember the guys doing the same kind of stuff here at Tennessee with way more talent that he did at Iowa where it was basically him.

Tyler's value to the team can't be measured by his stats, but I don't think he's a possible lottery pick this coming season. I think he's going to be a very good pro, but I can't help but think this kind of exposure will lead to him jumping after the season.

Yeah - he is a possible lottery pick this season. But the key word is possible. He's more than likely not but a solid first rounder at the least. We'll have to see what he does the rest of the season.

I really want to see that, i know he has the skills and the ability to score, I want him to look to do that more often. We all know he's unselfish and has a great feel for the game, but I think it's time he exposes some of the mismatches he gets at the 4 spot and takes control of games by scoring.

I still think the lottery is a stretch this season with guys like Beasley, Rose, Gordon, Mayo, Hibbert, DeAndre Jordan, and Nic Batum from France, basically locks to be drafted in the lottery. I think he has the potential to be a lottery pick, I just don't see (maybe I just hope) it isn't this year.

Bassmanbruno, if T.Smith shows up against Xavier I will eat my words but I think I'm gonna see the same T.Smith when we played Texas. Just not real impressed with him.J.P is better.........LOL. (bravo should like that)

The guy would have been Big 10 freshman of the year last year if not for Oden - the guy is good. You don't average 15ppg as a freshman for nothing... and almost lead your team in assist, steals, and rebounds.

But there really wasn't that much competition besides Drew N. from Michigan State, Oden, and Conley... he just wasn't noticed playing at Iowa.

And you act like third team all Big 10 isn't a great accomplishment..

You seriously know nothing about basketball if you really believe that. Go look at the article.

The guy is 6'7 and can do it all. He has great vision, can score, shoot the three, steal, play solid defense, and is a great team player
