Interesting read from Clay Travis.

Read this earlier. I'm normally a pretty big Clay fan, but this article is pointless. It doesn't tell us anything we don't already know, and it does it in a sensationalistic manner. I'm disappointed.

Yea the fact he brought up Hood is despicable...there is no need for that, I just lost respect for Clay

yeah, I usually think Clay is really funny, but this one is just way to harsh and personal!

Clay Travis is a good writer and a knowledgable fellow but face it--he's a glorified reporter looking to get his name out there. This piece is worth what you paid for it--nada.

Thanks Clay. :(

EDIT: The saddest part about what he wrote though.....he's friggin right.

I believe he is trying to be shocking to get people to read his article. However, I am having a hard time disagreeing with any part of that article. Seems as though he has used facts to support his side and unfortunately, I agree with him.

He's a hack trying to make a name for himself or a Bama homer when he isn't writing an article that says good things about UT, but when he writes an article with something good about UT in it he's an excellent writer. You guys crack me up.

As Homer Simpson once said, "It's funny because it's true."

Sorry, I laughed all the way through this article. The best line he has ever written may be: "Vol football players are too busy raping, robbing and beating their own fan base to worry about whipping Florida and Alabama."

That is harsh, but it is basically true these days. Think about it. Just when the bball team or fball team does something positive, we have some major scandal rock the campus. No self-control from these players. No discipline.

The only problem I have with the article is that he lumps the entire fan base in with Zickefoose and Russell in suggesting that Vol fans could care less about rape, robbery, and bar brawls if a Vol player is involved.

He paints us all with that broad brush stroke (like all media like to do) because it fits the story he wants to write about southern rednecks, college football, and the University of Tennessee.

I disagree with the responses because he makes a very direct point witht he article--UT athletes are ridiculously over the line and the fans are adding to the problem by not holding them accountable.

You can read my posts on here about BarBrawl2010 and I think the press has way, way overly sensationalized it. But, it doesn't change the fact that whatever happened there was unacceptable. The Nukeese situation was unacceptable. The Tyler Smith et al. situation was unacceptable. And, I don't even know what to say about the Ramar Smith situation.

I think the question Clay is asking is, "when will it all end?" I am wondering the same thing myself.

He's right, but I didn't quite get the article. Is he trying to shame the people who still support UT after what has happened, or is condoning the university? It's kind of confusing.

Exactly.

I enjoyed the article from Travis. He brought up some valid points. I totally agree with what he says. I just believe that if the victims can find it in their hearts to forgive the players; Why cant I? Which I believe most Vols fans do. I'm not saying the players don't need to face consequences for their actions, because they do. It's the elephant in the room we all know about.
