"The team and the culture have to be rebuilt, but the program doesn't. We needed to have it modeled a little differently inside of the house. But the outside of the house is pretty impressive."

Very applicable and should be taken into consideration by the fans on here that say nobody wants to coach at UT because it is in the SEC, or not a good recruiting base blah blah blah.

Very true hat. That's been the issue for awhile. If fact with all the renovations that have happened, that's a statement that makes a lot of sense at this point.

I saw a little thing on IU basketball on The Big Ten network. Their top returning player is a former walk on. If he can make any kind of splash at IU this year, he is a God.

If IU doesn't finish last in the Big 10, two things should happen. First, Crean should be conference coach of the year. Next, any coach who finished behind him should be immediately terminated.

I thought things inside the program were bad. The farcical behavior by players on Monday, coupled with their disgraceful performance on the field yesterday, proved it is far worse than I ever imagined.

Is there any team that could possibly, worst case, end up behind IU?

Crean already has a nice little class lined up for 2009 if they all remain committed. they won't won't be down long.

better get your licks in on them while you can.

We are currently infested with termites and the air is consumed with mold "inside the house".

Penn St and Northwestern usually hang around the bottom of the Big 10 but even they should be better.

I agree, that applies perfectly to Tennessee football too.

I'm originally from Purdue Country, and watching the meltdown at IU has been glorious. I do miss Bobby Knight tho (God he was fun to hate). IU messed up when they let that pinhead Brand force his victory in the pissing match he had with Knight. He gets rid of Knight, then bolts for greener pastures, and IU has been paying for it ever since. Ya Davis got them to the NC game, but that was really more a hot streak at the right time than anything. Other than that, they have been mediocre to terrible, but sadly, so was Purdue so we never did wrack up a whole lot of wins.

Pat Riley has always been big on the concept of getting players to "declare." By that, he means getting assurance that they are on board with his methods of doing business. I think that is the most important thing the new coach will have to do. My hope is that the departure of the malcontents and malingerers in this senior class will make that process easier.
