Interesting quote from the Coach

They were dirty all around. Taking the shots Akron took at players’ knees is just low class.
Especially on damn handoffs. The officials let things get out of hand.

I hope they get slaughtered the rest of the year. It's not a big stretch seeing how terrible their whole team is, but I hope so anyway.

Danny White should simply announce that "Tennessee will not play Akron in the future". They'll get the message. No more big pay days for cheap shot tackling.
I'm sure all their opponents coaches took note of the game. One or two are likely individual decisions from bad players. There were too many, which makes me think a second rate coach told them it's a legal way get them down.

Even Doug Matthews made a comment on Big Orange. He rarely says anything negative about character, etc. but he came out and said “they were dirty” and coached that way. I can’t recall what happened @ MS State but something happened when he was coaching there.

I agree. I said the same thing!

A big brawl in the Egg Bowl - it was ugly.

Who all was mad at Tennessee for taking down Chubb at the knee? Anyone? For all this talk about "it's football", some are pretty soft when it happens against the Vols but turn a blind eye when they dish it.

On one hand, you have a running back with the ball downfield being tackled like normal.

On the other, you have a team tackling a quarterback without the ball after handoffs below the knees.

I love when you clowns decide to come to this board.

Nah, apples & oranges...all that flipping and flopping chubb did to try to get a couple more yards is what blew his knee...

I thought he was just trying to do the stanky leg as he ran out of bounds....we didn't do that. Glad he recovered.

I'm not saying the hit caused the injury. I'm saying he was hit at the knee before he went out of bounds and no one is saying that was dirty.

They will. They are the 4th worst team in the country. Now am I allowed to wish that any players who intentionally took weak shots get taken out? I was ridiculed for this once before.

Not exactly sure what you’re getting at. Did you even watch the video you posted? The Chubb tackle was a legitimate and good tackle. The second defender, where Chubb was injured, finished the play and his leg was unfortunately in a bad position.

It is generally expected that running backs get hit low, especially huge backs like Chubb, Jamal Lewis or Derrick Henry. It is not expected that a lineman or qb get cut at their knees.
