Can UT afford for the Haslam family to disappear...??????

No easy answer. While we do have other boosters that have more money than the Haslams, they would have to be inclined to kick in more money if the Haslams were gone. Would they? Ergen could absorb that himself. But would he? These are the biggest questions.

If the other boosters dont mind giving more money, then the answer to your question is easily yes. Otherwise, no UT could not afford to lose the Haslams.

Dang Skippy they can! I think donations would in fact increase if they got out. It would be different if they didn't try to run things like dictators but they do. UT is bigger than even the Haslams. Tennessee fans and people that love this University are what made it great to begin with. GBO!!!!

Not really. Its not sports that is the main object of Haslam donations. By the way what do Vols fans have against
Brad Lampley especially since his since is our highest rated 19 committment.

No one has anything against Lampley, this is about the Haslam's. And yes, the Haslam family donates to other causes at UT so they can control the narrative in sports.

Folks on this board seem to be happy to see Lampley out so I wondered what he had done.

Love ole Andy Holt

The Andy Holt I knew and loved did not have to put up with this modern day BS as the leader of our great university. I am sure politics played a part in running the system back then (as it does everything). But some way he seemed to be above the infighting. Guess back then we didn't have the "great" (tongue-in-cheek) communications system we have now, but sure seemed like everything at Knoxville ran smoother. Do you think I may have been uninformed years ago? Or over informed now???

I will say the ship seems to be sailing along without a good rudder.

UT? Or the UTAD? The University as a whole will be fine. Clearly their money hasn't made a huge difference over the last decade because just look at the results all that money has gotten us. Their meddling has been disastrous as far as leadership and administration of the AD. Personally I don't think the cash is worth dealing with all the BS.

Money hasn't made a difference,,, have you not looked at the new music building?? I know most on here don't give a damn about music, but that facility is as good as it gets. Yea, in some areas their money and influence seems to have had some effect.

"Several important syntactic patterns appear repeatedly throughout Bill&Jimmy's works. In many places, the dialectical process is driven by a syntactic necessity that is really a kind of exhaustion" ;)

Way over my head... Can you dumb this down for me??

Half of the board members he proposed were shot down, he's not winning.

Winning, he is not at the moment...however, if he is able to ram rod 5 appointees next week and they get confirmed. Then he is.

The new BOT goes into effect on 1 June 18?

What's more, Will the BOT move forward with only 5 members or will the current regime stay in power or will there be 5 temporary appointees pending confirmation?

Could be a mess...Jury still out...

Thoughts: He may lose a few battles at this point but he could win the war if played correctly...

"Ever wonder why some people are so good at getting what they want? It’s because they have learned how to manipulate others into surrendering their power to them. One of the most effective tools used to achieve this is the Hegelian Dialectic. Whether you yearn for power over others or just want to protect yourself from being manipulated, it’s time to study this principle." :clapping::clapping::clapping:

If you propagate the mystique of your intellectual prowess with elocution of a certain profundity, the opportunities for opposing interlocutors to find purchase will diminish in inverse proportion to their own propensity for articulation.

I very much give a damn about music since I have a son graduating next month with major in music I can truly agree with you on this. That music building is state of the art facility that was badly needed.
And several other people also donated $$ to get it to what it is.

The board streamlne is a fine idea but the law should have taken effect next year when a new governor takes office. That way it could have been an issue in this year’s governor race. No way a lame-duck governor should have made the picks.

My rule: Never use a big word when a diminutive one will do.

Jubran getting booted is a big deal. He is Haslam's right hand man and his eyes and ears. They are BFFs who shared, uh, mutually beneficial interests when Haslam was mayor.
