Our blocking schemes are not going to look like our old 3 yards and a cloud of dust lines back in the day.. One of them said that even though we were considered fast in the tempo game last year our plan is to be even faster this year and part of that is that our linemen will not be doing the chicken fighting stuff down field in order to stay within a couple of yards of the LOS to get set faster. So our guys are trying to turn their responsibilities to create narrrow lanes rather than trying to manhandle and pancake guys. Would not think it impacts pass blocking as much. Gotta get as deep on the outside as the rush requires. He said we are trying to get to sub 10 seconds from whistle to next snap.

Why should I care what system they run or what some recruit thinks about it, as long as the Vols win and compete with Florida, Georgia and Alabama?

I like that the Vols are so fast that opposing defenses have to fake cramps every other play.

What we need is a new rule that anyone who gets "cramps" has to sit out the next three downs. That'd end that particular stall tactic! lol Just kidding, of course.

Don’t listen to those guys. They’re a broke clock. Right twice a day.
From the run blocking I saw Thursday night this seems to be one of those 2 times. At some point Heupel is going to have to evolve and go a little more traditional in his offensive approach. Not saying we need to go power I, but tempo should be something that enhances our offense and not something we rely on entirely

Chose the Minnesota Vikings randomly

Their starting Oline is

Pittsburgh
LSU
North Carolina
Boise St.
Virginia Tech

San Francisco 49ers because Jauan Jennings

Starting Oline is

Notre Dame
San Diego St.
UCLA
W. Virginia
Alabama

2/10 SEC players

Tennessee players need to get better but I wouldn't trust any online outfit that is worried about Offensive lines after their first game in September.

The game evolves. We’ll see if this strategy works.
Yup we are on the right side of the evolution for a change. More and more teams will start playing our style of ball. I remember when Urban brought the spread to Florida. SEC fans were saying it's a fade. Well, now nearly every SEC plays a form of it. Adapt or Die

Well this offense isn’t like old school Stanford. It isn’t a power run style. It’s built on speed with a lot of different looks and packages to confuse the defense.

Wish I understood the mechanisms used to not only get back to the line quickly, but to get to the right spot for the next play. Is it part of the original play call? Are we always calling two plays in the huddle? Quick alignment and execution of the play not only stops substitutions, it makes defensive adjustments we are used to seeing tough to call and execute. I will be watching formations play to play to see how varied they are. Interested to see how it plays into seeing more open receivers than we have had the last decade or so.

Will be interesting to see the contrast with FL in a few weeks, they seem to get back to the line pretty quick too, in order to allow enough time to go through typically multiple formation shifts rather than instant execution. Is the plan to force more zone rather than man coverages or just to tip coverages? Seems it could get man responsibilities confused. Anybody with background out there to help out?

That's supposed to be the rule this year. You have to sit the entire possession and the defense can't sub their whole D line for an injury TO anymore
