Ah, but actually winning games will take care of that.

We're past needing gimmicks for exposure.

Time to win!

You are right, we don't need gimmicks. But winning games, winning big games, and playing in prime time will put us in recruits minds, and make Butch's job easier on the recruiting trail.

Success breeds success.

But this will be the largest game ever played, at night in prime time (most likely) so west coast will get to watch as well.

I can't find it at the moment, but Casey Clausen mentioned that Tennessee was playing in a lot of prime time games back in the 90's, so he was all the time seeing them on TV. That's what put them in his head as an option.

Trust me, seeing us on Prime Time TV at a historic game such as this will help if we win and look good doing it.

But every good team plays in prime time games in today's world. Network, ESPN Family, Fox Sports...it doesn't matter!

You have ump-teen choices at any time of the day. So stop with the Casey Claussen crap. It's a different era.

Fan support is an issue when you're at the game, being a part of the Vol Walk, looking out at a 150,000 seat venue with (very likely) the majority of fans screaming their heads off for the Vols and watching what I suspect will be, again, a butt whippin of epic proportions, they'll feel the love. And want to be a part of it.

Kids these days thrive on the exposure of national programs like UT. As well as the passionate fan base that comes with it. Don't underestimate the kind of draw a unique game like the Battle at Bristol will have on them.

Honest question ...do you think this game draws a significant increase in ratings vs the other ABC college games?

Perhaps. Prime time game, nobody else of significance is playing that day and the hype will probably bump the ratings up. As to how significant, I can't say.

Let me put it to you this way, I highly doubt we will lose any recruits over this game. And I'd be surprised if we don't get a commitment or two after that Saturday.

Sorry for jumping in.
I don't know how many people are like me but for me, yes.
I don't watch ACC fb but if it were FL St. playing at Daytona, setting records, etc.. I would check it out and that's the truth.

And rooting against them.
