Whichever side of the coin you find yourself on, this is pretty spot on by Inky.

"The problem is we live in this Burger King society and people want to have it their way or they approach things with the microwave concept and expect a quick fix and don't have the power to endure anything. We are so quick to criticize instead of building people up. This is the same reason why marriages, families, organizations, universities and teams never get to where they're supposed to because at the first sign of adversity, opposition or trouble people jump out of the boat... Anybody can cheer for you when you're up but it takes special people to believe and extract the good from the bad. JUST REMEMBER THERE WILL COME A DAY AND TIME WHERE YOU WILL NEED SOME GRACE & EXPECT TO GET IT BUT DON'T FORGET HOW YOU JUDGED AND TALKED ABOUT OTHERS WHEN THEY NEEDED IT. Everybody is with you in the resurrection but no one is with you during the crucifixion.‪#‎VFL‬#ButMaybeYourePerfect"

He's completely right, we need to give Dooley a 4th year, Kiffin ran off a lot of players so he hasn't had the depth most teams have

I would say that what we are seeing now is far from the FIRST sign of adversity or trouble.

Butch will have every opportunity to coach his way out of this. He's lost to two teams he shouldn't have. He needs to outcoach a better team.

As luck would have it, we have two very talented teams coming up.

With all due respect to Inky...

You can't get better if you can't identify what you need to get better at doing...

Denial of what happened will not result in different outcomes next time.

Not expecting a quick fix. Our beloved football program was in pretty bad shape. However, if we had been blown out or lost in a slug-fest most, myself included, wouldn't be that upset. However, we had the game won, we were up. There was no way that Florida team was gonna come back and win. But thanks to some very poor mental lapses and just flat-out bad play calls, Florida did come roaring back and they won.

The sting of that game coupled with the loss to OU, were again we lost a game we had won, has the fan bases hurting. And if we lose to the Hogs the hurt is only gonna get worse. I thought before the season started this was gonna be a 7-8 win team. And 7 is looking very likely.

We will only win those games if we are behind in the 4th quarter. I have not seen any indication that we can keep a lead on a good team.

I love Ink, but he's simply wrong. Criticizing the HC is not being a fake fan. Creating this 'real' fan does this or doesn't do that is nonsense.

Fan means fanatic, and this isnt root for your home team. This is big $$. If coaches want to teach history M-F and take a stipend to coach, then I don't think you have 100k seat stadiums, training facilites, talk shows, or fans losing their mind when the $3.6 million salary coach can't help but screw the pooch.

Indeed it is however unless you are a booster laying out a significant amount of money to support the program it is silly for you to use this as a basis for your argument. You gotta fork over a few million for that right and I strongly suspect you don't qualify.

There isn't a better team left on our schedule. I've watched both Georgia and Alabama. If we can dominate Oklahoma and Florida before the coaching blunders, then we can most definitely beat Georgia and Alabama.

We just need the coaches to get out of the players way.

OP don't you know you can only bring up former players that are upset with Butch on this site? How dare you bring up stuff from a former player saying something positive!!!

I admire Inky for his faith but unfortunately this is a results-driven business (for profit) and you can't always fit a square peg (i.e., grace, forgiveness, etc.) into a round hole.

Understand where he's coming from but you can't expect a "fallen" world to assume a Christian approach. If the University of Tennessee was the YMCA then maybe but not with $$$ hanging in the balance.

All due respect to Inky, but since when is 7 years a quick fix (since Fulmer was fired)?

The talent is here now. Our coaching staff either doesn't know how to or refuses to develop it.

I have a great deal of respect for Inky and love the guy a ton. But this isn't Auburm where their program is fewer than 5 years removed from a natty and a NCG appearance.

This is Tennessee - where we have endured mediocrity for petty much a freakin decade. It's not like we're a spoiled, entitled fan base. We are the antithesis of a "fast food" fan base. We've been enduring the slow burn of disappointment after disappointment after disappointment.

Hell, show me another program in our situation that will put 100k in the seats for an FCS school after giving away a game like OU.. You might find one or two others in the entire country.

It's unfair to NOT expect emotionally charged criticism after the way we've dropped these two games.

Sorry, but it's just a moronic statement. This fanbase is not the problem. This fanbase has stuck with this program through nearly a decade of incompetence and failure. For him to point a finger at the fans is quite outrageous. The team and the coaches are failing. The fans have been there, cheering like crazy, checkerboarding the stadium, and have been rewarded pathetic coaching, players not stepping up, and a head coach that is apparently unable to see the err of his in game decision-making.

I think Inky owes the fans an apology.

He went to the deep end, I get he is referring to fans calling for CBJ to be fired, but he went deep with what the OP posted. Every fan has every right to what they want to think and say....... I say GO VOLS! Get it together Butch!

Well you are a lot smarter about football than Inky. And he is a terrible human being so...
