I know last spring practice we lost 2 players, one was Ben Martin and the other I just can't remember their name?? My other question is with these 2 back on the DL line, how do you think DL will fare next year...?

the other was marlon walls and i think with couch coming in the addition of those 2 we will be much better especially in terms of depth

Marlon Walls, I couldn't believe I forgot his name..I hope both of them come back 100% from the achilles injuries

We should be much improved with the new DL signee's and Walls and Martin back from injuries.

Martin and Walls had serious injuries, so lets hope they can come back from it. If so, with Jackson, Couch, Smith, Miller, and hopefully Hughes, we should be much better than the start of this season. Just as important, with the freshmen coming in, the DL will have some depth.

I dont expect walls or martin to be 100%. They may still be effective in the fall but this is a hard injury to recover from.

our defensive line will be soooo much better this year with martin and walls coming back, smith and miller gaining weight and getting stronger, couch and the other freshmen coming in and adding depth and chuck having a year under his belt with the guys. losing c-walk and gerald does hurt but i think we've got enough people coming back from injury and coming into the program so the hurt won't be felt as bad. hughes and jackson have proven they can contribute. i think with a better attitude and the fact that he won't be the only true defensive tackle we have, hughes will have a much improved year next year. at times he was unblockable, but had to play through fatigue and nagging ankle injuries. looking for him dominate next year!

It's odd that we had two players that tore their achilles tendon..we should be much stronger in the trenches in 2011...GBO!

Can we actually get an update on these two? How are they doing? Are they walking without a limp, strength etc.?

Very true. If they are not able to play next year, would both be eligible to apply for a 5th year due to medical hardship?

Why wont they be back? Nick Reveiz had the same injury in the middle of the season and he was able to participate at least a little.

ACL/MCL injuries are bad but they dont take nearly as long to recover as they used to. They will be back for the fall easy if they dont have any setbacks.

Walls still has eligibility left so no, he would have to wait until after his senior year to do so.

Martin would be eligible for one.

And it would be a sixth year, not a 5th.

Arthur Jeffery was supposedly still bouncing back from his ACL injury two years ago. Hopefully he'll be able to contribute next fall at DT as well.

They had achilles injuries not ACL tears

Is it definite that they won't be able to participate in Spring? I remember something about them possibly being back, but maybe that was just back to walking around and rehabbing still.

They'll be back by spring practice in some form. The range for achilles surgery rehab is 4-6 months with 8 months expected for 100% activity. This is for the regular guy, not elite athletes with a top-notch training staff.

They may not be at 100% full speed for spring practice, but they'll certainly be healthy enough to participate.

For full disclosure, I am an orthopedic PA and work in a surgical clinic.

BTW, I avoid this typically since I don't want to get flamed as being part of the grammar police, but the thread title right now is Injuried instead of Injured.
