Informative and disturbing article about Dooley recruiting.

There's also many levels of being "recruited". Some just turn in player profiles, some send tapes, some hear responses back from school reps, some talk with coaches at camps, and some actually get recruited to go to a school. Not all are the same and doesn't mean that other schools actually want a player.

If you don't think we have elite talent (at the least on the offensive side of the ball) then you clearly have never seen the game of football.

Just what I would expect from a Doolite, twist some words. Did I say we didn't have any elite players? I said he didn't stack the shelf Like some claim, You could give Kiffy credit for half of those Studs.

I questioned his recruiting tactics when he did not look at Powell's Dyshawn Mobley who broke state records last year. KY and Vandy recruited him hard, but UT showed no interest.

We already know counting players on the field and counting the # of timeouts left in a game wasn't possible. Any ideas on this "Dooley might be smart" theory?
:clapping:

TFP... take it with a grain of salt

I read the article in Chatt TFP and it got me fired up angry. I believed every bit of it.

Then I remembered that TFP hates Vols almost as much as ESPN. You can't read TFP without feeling the </sarcasm> tremendous love </end sarcasm> towards anything related to TN Vols football. I don't know how much of it to believe. All of you that read TFP know what I mean.

You just don't go and turn your back on players & coaches in your own backyard like that. I'm really surprised of that with Dooley but past is past now and I'm hoping the fences can be mended.

There are over 750 hs football coaches in TN and the 3 hr radius around knoxville into other states

Coaches pissed at college coaches is common, especially if they are butthurt over one of their kids not panning out.

I would agree about so many in the neighborhood but I'll ask this....did we ever hear of area coaches & players complain about not being contacted Before Dooley?

One coach being ticked is one thing, 32/37 is another.

Seeing the top 5 players in the state commit to other schools and the number 6 guy not even making a visit to Knoxville has told me all I really needed to know about his recruiting efforts for months.

These TFP articles just solidified things.

If Dooley was in the military, he would be charged with dereliction of duty for the past year.

I have felt like we have been missing out on the best players in the state for years. Seems like we got a few a couple years ago.

People keep saying 32 schools. Well, I wonder how many d1 prospects those 32 schools had.

I can understand why we would be pissed if we were just blowing off school after school in a hotbed, but that's not the case.

I don't know the whole story on vonn bell. sounds like a bad mistake, not unlike what has happened for many years with TN players thriving elsewhere. The rest are butthurt coaches, imo, including a couple that don't like the way it worked out for a player. That goes on all the time guys. Hs coaches all over don't think their kid got a fair shake. Again, it would be interesting to know the number of signees from those schools in the last 4 years. That would define my opinion.

Fulmer was around for a long time. I'm sure he ran into about everybody after awhile. If he was spending time visiting schools without prospects, add that to the list of reasons why our recruiting slacked.
