Hello all! I'm new to these boards. I'll be heading out the UCLA game on 9/12 but I have never been to Neyland Stadium, or even Knoxville before. No, I am not a UCLA fan.

Do you have any recommendations for a first timer? Tailgating, parking situation, Vol Walk?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Can't wait to hear what the loudest stadium is like!

Thanks everyone!

Feel free to join the chant "It's great to be a TENNESSEE VOL after we kick the Bruins azz. It will send chills down your spine, as will the VOL WALK and the team running through the T. Hope ya have a safe trip and enjoy the experience !

Get there early. You'll want to head down to the Strip and have a couple of beers and soak up the atmosphere. Then make your way back across campus to the stadium and over to Calhouns and check out the VOL Navy. You can eat at Calhouns but be prepared to wait for a table.

Do not miss the Vol Walk and definitely be in the stadium to see the Power T.

My favorite part of a UT game is when the opposition has the ball on their own 10 and it gets so loud they get a false start or delay of game. Man thats awesome. It's great to be Tennessee Vol!

Don't leave and go into the stadium after the vol walk. Wait for the pride of the southland to come down and salute the hill before they go in. Its amazing to see the thousands of people surrounding the band and singing rocky top as loud as they can. After the band, go ahead and go on in to the stadium to watch some of the pre-game preparation. Listen to the crowd boo the opposing starters named and cheer for our starters. Scream as loud as you can "pay these prices and please pay no more!" Then sit back and watch the crowd fill in and the players leave the field. Let your anticipation build as the band takes the field and salutes ut and then the bruins with their fight song. Then feel the chills down your spine as you are on your feet for the vol march "v.....o.....l.....s...v...o...l...s..v.o.l.s go vols go!" Then put your voice to the test and get ready to have your ears ring as the power T forms. Opposing teams sit in amazement because it is a pregame unrivaled in college football. Then when that T opens and the vols come racing on the field, you will be ready to strap the pads on yourself. Cheer, go crazy, and sing rocky top all night as we light up the scoreboard all day long.

Oh yea, How did I forget the band saluting the Hill ! You must take that in as well !!! It's hard to remember everything but all the suggestions so far are right on. Get there early and just follow the masses, don't be afraid to ask questions if you're not sure where to be at a certain time. people will hep you.

If I had to choose one of the two, the Salute is definitely the one to go to. It is alos closer to game time if you are tailgating farther away from the stadium. Though with the Vol Walk being closer to gametime, I am not sure how close the two will be to each other now.

I believe the VOL WALK is scheduled to start 1 1/2 hrs prior to kickoff now. How long before kickoff is the Bands salute to the hill?

Are you from Tn? Why all of a sudden a Vol? Somebody you know play for the Vols?

My girlfriend went to high school with Casey Clausen in CA. She has become a huge Tennessee fan since. We live out in LA but hate UCLA even though my girl works for them. Ha, the irony! She will be sporting the orange that entire week before the game like she did last year.

Thanks everyone for your input, it is greatly appreciated.

Make sure to stop in at Vol Village, the Vol Walk, Salute to the Hill, and the kickoff call/in show, don't watch the call/in show too long, because you want to make sure to get in to hear the starting lineups. Man, I can't wait till Sept. 5!!!!!!
