Fact is Oregon's performance has set up a great opportunity for the Vols. While the chances are slim, a victory against a top ten team will create tremendous buzz that should create momentum for the season as well as recruiting.

Could be the Vols most important non conference game in the last 10 years.

Yeah it would be nice to get a win against a Pac 10 opponent , it's been awhile.

If we beat Oregon...how crazy will the Florida game be? I think we have the best shot we've had in 5 years to beat Florida this year.

I hope our D can stop them at the line and contain them around the corners, because if those backs get loose, you beeter watch out! Those guys are super fast!!!

Maybe I've already OD'd on the Dool-aid but I think this game is winnable.

It will completely hinge on the Defense's performance. Stopping them early will create a ton of momentum. I'm going out on a limb and saying we can keep them to lees than 21 points if we contain the corners.

I think we will be able to run the ball and control the clock. If we can score 3-4 TD's and control the clock we can win.

I feel confident.

Oregon's not exactly the best road team.

i read something the other day that said since 1999, oregon is 11-2 on the road in the month of september...that's pretty good.

Let's check:

9/3/09: L (19-8 @Boise)
9/13/08: W (32-26 2OT @Purdue)
9/27/08: W (63-14 @Wazzu)
9/8/07: W (39-7 @Michigan)
9/29/07: W (55-31 @Stanford)
9/9/06: W (31-24 @Fresno St)
9/30/06: W (48-13 @Arizona St)

Wiki doesn't have their results going further back, and someone else could check if they like, but this is enough to convince me that they actually have a pretty stout road record in September. That said, their road opponents haven't exactly been top class (the Michigan game was the week after the Appy State game).

I agree. If we somehow pull out a W it would be huge for the program.

It would be a great win...A victory over what could be the Pac 10s top dog would put UT right back on the map

Yall forgetting Moore and Jones is out. Our fresh. WR have talent but need to learn a lot quick ! Simms was throwing too high and even Stocker was off. So this young inexperienced Off. we have just got more inexperienced players. I think Teague should move back to WR for this game just to have more experience out there. Moore MAY be able to play but face it. He has got awful hands. Only good moves and with bad ankle hes useless

You're right, moving a guy who rarely saw action last year and has practiced exactly none at WR this year and doesn't even know the system would really help us out and possibly decide the game.

Teague was a great WR imo

I feel about this game the same way I felt about the basketball game against Kansas with half of our team in the pokey. I fully expect us to get our hats handed to us, but I hold out some hope that UT is better than I think they are and that this week can be a springboard.

I was wrong during basketball season, but I thought there was a chance, so I made the long drive to Knoxville. I'm heading down this weekend as well, so we shall see.

Didn't hunter have the most impressive fall camp of all the receivers.

I honestly don't think jones out hurts as much as the dl being thin and the ol needing more time to develop. That's where games are usually decided. If our dl isn't constantly in their young qbs face, ut we have problems.

We would almost certainly make a bowl game with a win, and making a bowl would define this as a successful season in my book.
