As of right now, I would choose Leach even though he is a little on the odd side. Based on his track record alone and weighing everything else, he's a no brainer if Davis and the pro candidates are for sure out. He has done well everywhere he's been, he plays in a pretty tough conference, and he has developed the likes of Tim Coach, Josh Heupel, and now Graham Harrell. If davis is staying, and it's between Leach, Kelly, or others, You gotta go with Leach. any thoughts?

he's 2-7 against Texas and soon to be 2-7 against OU....I'm not excited about the prospect of him coming to the Hill

Im not thrilled either. But to his defense, He beat texas and his recruiting classes have ranked an average of around 30 since he got there. So obviously he's doing more with less.

The guy has never made it to the Big 12 Championship game, much less winning it. Isn't that what we panned Phil for, not winning championships?

I dont think you can compare Texas Tech program to Taxas or OU. Imagine how he would have done AT Texas or OU! Thats like saying Steve Spurrier is a bad coach because South Carolina has trouble beating Florida, Georgia and Tennessee.

I guess everyone forgets that a Mike Shula Bama team beat TX Tech in the Cotton Bowl 13-10.

In order to win here, you've got to be able to recruit hard. Being undefeated, you'd think Techs class would look a little better than it does right now

What Kelly has done is a lot more impressive than finishing 5th in the Big 12 every year.

You've haven't presented any evidence supporting his track record as a great head coach...all you've done here is support that he gets a lot of production out of his quarterbacks.

I don't give him much credit for "developing" Tim Couch. Couch was a phenom before he ever stepped foot on UK's campus.

The Big East is freaking horrible.

That might be true, but remember he's doing it at freaking Cincinatti not Syracuse, not West Virginia, not Louisville, but freaking Cincinatti on his 3rd or 4th string QB. So while he may not love recruiting - don't really know - he can hire assistants that recruit like crazy.

Some of you guys are really funny to read, and I'm predicting that many have no real collegiate coaching or playing experience.

The way some of you lay out your logic, it would never make sense for a major football program to ever hire an up-and-coming coach from a weaker conference.

I guess we should have never even brought Coach Pearl in for an interview. I mean, he was at UW-Milwaukee, of the Horizon league, for crying out loud!

I guess Florida and Ohio State really blew it!

Difference is Kelly is in a BCS conference in a urban area and can't out recruit the people in his conference. The others were in lower conferences or divisions and were going undefeated. Kelly is not.
