4-star EDGE Jayce Brewer breaks down Tennessee visit

Tennessee’s new LEOs coach, Andrew Jackson, wasted little time in prioritizing standout 2027 EDGE Jayce Brewer after he got started on Rocky Top in January. Brewer returned to Knoxville over the weekend, and he went in-depth with Volquest on the latest trip.

“I have love for Tennessee,” Brewer said of what brought him back to Knoxville this weekend. “It is a great campus, a great atmosphere, everything. I love the coaching staff, so it was good being back here.”

Brewer has quickly connected with Tennessee LEOs coach Andrew Jackson, and the four-star prospect got the chance to see him work on the practice field during this visit.

“I got to see how Coach AJ coached and his philosophy on the practice field,” Brewer said of what he saw on the practice field. “I like his coaching style and the way he is with his players. I like the way he coaches. I like the defense they run.”

Brewer has been impressed by Jackson as the two have quickly built a strong relationship, while also continuing to build on his relationship with Rodney Garner as well.

“I have been talking with him and Coach G a lot,” Brewer said. “It has been great. Ever since he got hired, we have been talking a lot, and I like everything about that. It has just been constant communication. It is great. I feel like a priority to them.”

Tennessee Defensive Coordinator Jim Knowles also made a nice impression on Brewer during the visit.

“Yeah, I actually just met with him,” Brewer said of Knowles. “We sat down and talked about the scheme and things like that. I like the versatility that the outside backers have. I like how they get to showcase in different ways.

Brewer is set to return to Tennessee the weekend of June 12th for an official visit with the Vols.

“Really, I just want to get back on campus and spend more time around the coaching staff and get to know them better,” Brewer said of what will be most important during the visit.

So at this point, what stands out about Tennessee to the four-star defender?

“I would just say the culture and the coaching staff they have,” he said. “Coach Knowles just won a national championship at Ohio State two years ago. He has a winning culture. Coach AJ has been producing great defensive ends. Coach G has been coaching for 30-something years now and producing great defensive linemen. It is just all of the great coaches around.
