Next year will we still be weak at the center position? It seems if we found a good center we would be a lock to make the NC game.

no i dissagree.. A "big baby" or someone that size wouldn't work as well because of all the endurance needed to run the pearl system. I like what we got to be honest

i've been saying this for a while, we didn't have a big man last year and went to the sweet 16 and had the eventual runner-up on the ropes. We don't need a big man with this type of system to win a national championship. Chism is the perfect man in the middle for our team.

yes, we will still be relatively weak at the center position. i hear the comments about the Pearl system, but they're off the mark. rebounding is paramount for a team that wants to press, trap, run and plays limited half court D. This style worked for UNLV without a true center because gran-ma-ma could dominate in the paint on both ends and they could flat out d in the full and half courts. The paint is a problem for our team.

We still have potential for a big run (I don't believe in locks when a single poor game can end it) because there is a dearth of paint presence across NCAA hoops.

I think between Chism, Crews, Childress and T. Smith our rebounding shouldn't be a problem.

Yes, and B-dub will be used to clog the middle against big bodied centers we face. We don't need a traditional post up center in Pearl's system. It's almost a hinderance of sorts.

I'm not talking about a traditional post up center. I'm talking about a presence that requires some attention from the opposition on O, defends the paint to some degree and cleans the defensive glass.

a lot of ppl think we lost games because we didnt have a big man down low, but if u think about it there was only one team that we had trouble against down low and that was Ohio St. which happened to have the number one overall pick in this year's draft and considered the best C prospect since Patrick Ewing... teams did score relatively easy in the paint but we also had a freshman center and a 6'4 power forward, this year Chism and Crews are seasoned, Childress is 6'9 and seasoned, Tyler Smith is 3 or 4 inches taller than last years PF and we're gonna score 90 points a game, so the post game shouldnt affect our chances at all

solid paint play = more consistency and consistently strong play is THE common thread amongst those that find a way to win 6 in a row at the end of the year.

isn't that what Chism does? You have to remember Chism is only a sophomore this year, so he's only going to get better. Chism will be a very good rebounder and if you don't think he requires some opposition while on offense you weren't paying attention very well. Chism opens up the middle so much by bringing out the other team's center to the perimeter to guard him because of his 3-point shooting ability. He can be a good shot-blocker with his long arms. Add Tyler Smith, Crews and Childress to that mix and maybe some Brian Williams and I think our presence in the paint will be just fine.

since when has Pearl done anything common with UT basketball?
??????

I think Pearl plays a style that suits the talent at hand and plays well to potential recruits. Keep it coming.

I think we can win and win big, but we're going to go through our typical droughts because we don't have that go-to presence out there. Teams win without it and ours can be the same, but winning at the highest level gets much tougher given our streakiness.

i know that we play a style that can get us a 30 point victory or a 30 point loss, but what i was saying is that Pearl is winning, which is uncommon for UT basketball, atleast during my era

i have to assume that what you will "take" them for is something besides trying to win big basketball games

what im saying is that if you give me a big game and give me two teams to pick from (UT-UF) that im gonna take UT.. hands down... sure they won a national championship but the roster we have this year would demolish UF
