I think now that he's not coaching against the likes of Mike Dubose, Ray Goff, Jim Donnan, Hal Mumme, and Sparky Woods we've seen what Fulmer really knows about being a HFC.

dude I was talking about JoePa

Wow there isn't one Fulmerite left among you. The end of days is near. It would be nice if he'd announce his retirement effective at the end of the season, so we could officially start the search. I would like the new guy to have a chance at retaining the recruiting class.

if anyone thinks Fulmer should be the coach at Tennessee in the '09 season, please lay out your case here. I promise I will not even comment on the quality of your logic. I just want to see what anyone who thinks he can turn this around is thinking.

Ok... here goes.

I personally think that it will take several coaches before the right one is found. Are the people on this board really prepared for a decade or so of possible frustration? Other schools in the SEC have proved that it takes several hires before the right one if found.

Fulmer has proven that he can win with great assistants. Pay Cut a fortune to come back and hire Steele to run the defense.

I will admit that this is not a ringing endorsement for Fulmer but watching LSU in the 80s and 90s as well as seeing what Alabama, Florida, and Georgia went through before they found "the guy" is not an experience that I look forward too.

Pay Cut a fortune?????

:banghead2: :mf_surrender: :snoring:  Maybe it does take 2 or 3 or maybe we get the right guy now. As long as we don't hire any more Krystal coaches like Buzz and Uncle Jerry, I don't care who they get. Throw some $$$$ at an up-and-comer and see where the chips land. The who-you-gonna-git argument makes our program look like one, big inferiority complex!!!!!

Nobody will ever convince me that fear of the unknown is a valid reason to keep a bad coach.
